metro drivers here wont let you on the bus sometimes if you can stand up to load a wheelchair on the bus. but also often the lift ramp is broke so if you can't you also cant ride. and you never know which is the case for any bus. but dont dare have bags on it like a cart. texas is a hellscape.

"Remember when everyone was trying to say #EBV reactivation was the cause of #LongCovid?
I have some really f***ing bad news for you. EBV reactivation was at one time considered as a cause of #AIDS also."

this is why our community will always suck no matter what platform it is on.
many have been disenfranchised by the policies of both parties. want to blame someone? look in the mirror
i know 😭
i lost my bestie back then. i have a variety of "long covid" that is eerily similar now. the next four years scare the hell out of me.
wait what
sometimes it just hits me that most never-been-poor people believe in their heart of hearts that poor people just don’t work very hard, or aren’t very smart
what a world
i like parody accounts, they just need to be marked as such to avoid confusion.
im sorry for your loss
On this World AIDS Day, I remember my tío Cano.
He passed August 1991, two months before I was born. He lived an all-too brief life, my queer Puerto Rican ancestor, but his memory guides me, lifts me.
wait y'all actually just... take the tree on the subway and stuff? lol. i never really thought about that before. definitely not the holiday movie version of xmas in nyc
im so sorry for your loss
may i share this on the other place?
Anakin and Padme from Star Wars meme: Anakin: This guy on Grindr asked if I was clean. Padme (laughing): And you told him to piss off, right? Anakin (looks on blankly) Padme (no longer smiling): You told him to piss off, right?
1 December is #WorldAIDSDay.
Always challenge HIV stigma.
Bronze statue of a man holding an apple sitting on a bench in a park.
There is a statue of Turing in Sackville Gardens here in Manchester. You can sit with him on his bench and talk to him.
Thousands will gather by his statue tomorrow night at 6pm for our World AIDS Day Vigil.

FACT OF THE DAY. 30 November 1936. Alan Turing’s research paper, On Computable Numbers, was published in 2 issues of the Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society on 30 November, and 23 December 1936. It proposed the creation of a universal (computer) machine.
Alan Turing, a brilliant gay man whose brilliance did not protect him from the legalised homophobic persecution, that ultimately resulted in his death.
“I don’t feel that as someone living with HIV I am somehow lesser than other people.”
End HIV stigma.

I lost two of my absolutely best friends. Victor Arimondi, photographer, Gary Oden, model. Here they are 💔 For people who want to know what it was like, please read or watch David France's How To Survive a Plague. #AIDS #NeverAgain
Me aged 30. I was in LA and dressed up to go to a posh do (hired tux). My hair is slicked back and, in black and white under bright Californian sun, my skin looks impeccable. I’m looking directly into the camera with a closed mouth smile. I look like a movie star.
Selfie. I’ve got very freshly cut hair and I’m looking directly at the camera with a similar smile. I’m wearing a vest. My lines are deeper, my eyes heavier, but I’m still in pretty good shape for a 57 year old.
I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died but I was told, with the new drugs available, I could expect to live another 20 years.
That was 27 years ago.
Honour those we lost.
Celebrate that we can now treat and prevent HIV.
Make HIV stigma history.

I was diagnosed with HIV in 1997, when I was 21.
Medication was just coming out but I didn’t think I’d live past 27yrs old.

A black and white photo of me at 17. I’m wearing a baggy grey jumper and for some reason a leather cap.
A 🧵 on #AIDS in the 80s/90s:
I was 15 when I first had sex with a man.
I’d snuck off to London’s Heaven nightclub with the express intent of ridding myself of my ‘gay virginity’, a goal I achieved easily with a visiting American photographer.
