4/4 🇪🇺 We are calling on the Parliament & Council not to be swayed by the proposals, which only scratch the surface of the problem. They should use their scrutiny powers to introduce a clear and automatic requirement to ban residues of any pesticide not authorised in the EU.

3/4 ☠️ This double standard does not just affect European consumers. It exports harm to farmworkers, to communities, and to ecosystems in the countries where these banned substances are still being used. And often the companies profiting for this are European.

2/4 📑 However, a new independent legal opinion finds that the @ec.europa.eu already has the power to stop allowing residues of highly toxic & banned pesticides in imported food and that by failing to do so, it could be breaching its legal obligations under EU law!
