I agree very much so. Having worked with Mel, she has been an inspiration to where my approach is with teaching with A Level. @justmaths.bsky.social
On YouTube, there are talks with both Mel and Chris, and I still replay every now and again, and evaluate where I'm at.
Ah, I've found his channel and followed him (didn't realise he was already following me there). It looks brilliant, thank you!
Thank you Jo!
Very honoured with the comments and reflections from my #mathsconf40 session.
The question that Jo highlighted was from an HKDSE Compulsory paper - a very useful source to find some more challenging but not necessarily accelerate the pace of learning for students.
Thanks Jo - it was lovely how much "interleaving" of workshops there were between my one and the ones that I attended including yours!
Can I check about andrewmaths1 - is he on BlueSky? If so, I can't find his channel yet!
Nice to meet you today! @justmaths.bsky.social is brilliant to work with! Hope to see you in a future one!
Highlights from my workshop today:
These were the questions that the participants found interesting from papers abroad. What do you think? #MathsConf40
Hi Rob! And thank you! I hope to catch up with you soon! Think the workshop went well with the participants!
#mathsconf40 reminded me how awesome the community is despite the social media lull nowadays.
Really enjoyed the sessions I was part of, particularly @mr-man-maths.bsky.social international questions... rich seam!
I have a feeling it was @andrewmaths1 - he still posts lots of questions.
Thank you Matt - great session today!
Great day out at #mathsconf40 as always. Thanks to Joe Berwick, @mathsjem.bsky.social , @mathsadvance.bsky.social , @mr-man-maths.bsky.social and @blatherwicksam.bsky.social for their excellent sessions.
Fun day at #mathsconf40 today with Jill Hay and @drbennison.bsky.social. I learnt a new way of teaching inequalities to A Level Maths and FM that Iโm excited about @blatherwicksam.bsky.social.
I loved trying some international exam questions with @mr-man-maths.bsky.social.
Yes, I remembered a Twitter user who used to post a question of two a day from countries around the world. I'm sure it's in one of @mathsjem.bsky.social's Maths Gems but can't remember which one! I wonder if that account still exists! #Mathsconf40
Thank you so much for all that attended my workshop on looking at questions from overseas especially the Maths problems from ๐ญ๐ฐ Hong Kong which could be used for KS3, GCSE and #ALevelMaths. My slides will be updated to include links - look out for an email from @lasalleed.bsky.social! #Mathsconf40
I really like "Method 3" of how @blatherwicksam.bsky.social solves AS Further Maths inequalities. #Mathsconf40
Nice reminder that it is not just curve sketching that we can use for solving quadratic inequalities.
We could use the boundary method too! @blatherwicksam.bsky.social
This makes me think about my Y11s who still struggle with this topic - might just give it a go!
Fair play to Colin @aqaeducation.bsky.social!
I asked from one of the National Workshops to do a workshop on this and now I'm listening to it! #MathsConf40
Ah, thanks @mathsjem.bsky.social for the shout out! Definitely look at exam papers from other sources for additional challenge for KS3 students #Mathsconf40
So lovely to see @mathsjem.bsky.social giving a shout out to @draustinmaths.com whilst listening at #Mathsconf40!
There's also a few gems that were great reminders!
Now looking at how to stretch our KS3 students, so we're off to @mathsjem.bsky.social! #Mathsconf40
This is coming up at a perfect time.
It's almost time to review our scheme of work (I made lots of changes last year) so it's nice to see how other schools (such as here from Joe Berwick) does his.
And then he covered the large data set - which I'm stepping in to teach for Monday! #Mathsconf40
At Derby for #Mathsconf40!
If you're there, come and say hi!
Such a privilege to have two observers to come in and watch my A Level workgroup from GLOW Maths Hub / @ncetm.bsky.social!
Another enjoyable year with brilliant engagement by all participants on the theme of improving lower attainers at A Level using Teaching for Mastery.
Thank you! Looking forward to seeing you for #MathsConf40!

Currently on my thinking trek for my talk on #MathsConf40 next week. And what a great way to do it but to visit a local library in Hong Kong to compare international paper questions compared to the UK. (Plus I found @edsouthall.bsky.social's book too)
And I didn't know it existed for IGCSE Paddy! I assume just in Results plus and not in the Emporium anywhere as one big spreadsheet like they do for the domestic GCSE and A Level?
