I'm willing to bet a slab that ABC Melbourne did not ask this question of David Pocock:

There is no razor gang for the diesel subsidy.
There is no razor gang for 170 billionaires.
There is no razor gang for fossil fuel's unpaid taxes and damages to society.
There's a razor gang for the disabled.
Congratulations, corrupt Australia.
We know who you want dead.

Those in favour of taxing gas, what is the ratio of "wealth" to deaths + damage from fossil fuels?
Where's the damage tracker?

You're an ecological economist.
Curious: when we know that fossil fuels have already cost us over $900 billion, why are we keeping them going instead of shutting them down?
We're not recouping the cost of damages already made, let alone future damage!

Why is taxing gas a solution? We're spending money on the wrong things now - so taking money from the wrong things, to spend more money on the wrong things is a solution, how?
If we taxed gas...
"What does a blackmailing operation of a cabal of child rapists have to do with @climatenews.bsky.social?
Well, these blackmailers are heavily and extensively involved and invested in the fossil fuel industry, all across the world."
Australia: we need to be like Norway!
Norway:

Norway is not milking the fossil fuel industry.
Norway is killing people by *supporting* the fossil fuel industry.
Taxing gas is not a solution. Where are Australia's taxes going?
A diesel subsidy for billionaires, who have funded Richard Dennis.
Norway govt owned Equinors emissions are GROWING.
Where is the Australia Institute research that shows Norway killing people and planet with their export emissions, and encouraging Australia to do the same?
This is Norway's state owned Equinor "success" of rolling out more fossil fuel projects + emissions around the world ⬇️
Environmental suicide.
Hi @davidpocock.bsky.social, when we already have 900 billion in costs from emissions, c/o @roycerk2.bsky.social, how does taxing gas 25%, and doing nothing to decrease their emissions fix that?
Where are the facts, @strangerous.bsky.social ? #AusPol #taxgas
Hi Australia, you want to #taxgas? Where is the answer to these questions? Where, @mikeyslezak.bsky.social @simonrosenberg.bsky.social @qldaah.bsky.social?
Why keep killing people + planet, @marchudson.bsky.social ?
Norway doing “just fine” = Norway captured by the fossil fuel industry. Is that what you want, Australia?
How does David Pocock make a lot of sense when he's supporting Santos?
Gettng a "fair public return" for the pollution we dig up won't change the permanent climate damage and biodiversity loss. The only thing that will stop that and protect the future for or kids is leaving the gas in the ground. Way too many of you aren't getting this.
Where are the legitimate local concerns? Where has anyone mentioned the legit concern of a corrupt fossil fuel company running renewables into the ground, like Engie?
Australia could pay for healthcare without a gas tax by choosing to tax 170 billionaires who are paying less than 0.8% tax. We choose not to.
Taxing gas is not going to solve Australia's funding problems because it enables fossil fuels that kill people.
#taxgas #AusPol
Regardless of what a country taxes, fossil fuels including gas kills people. Norway is killing people with their taxes.
Does Australia want to be killing more people with fossil fuels too?
#taxgas #Auspol
@withmeaa.bsky.social In a decade, how much of people + planet did Australia's exports + domestic gas use kill?
Why are you encouraging us to continue to kill by enabling fossil fuels like Norway has? Australia's gas emissions belong to all of us too. #AusPol #GasTax
Shut it down. The Australia Institute are a fossil fuelled thinktank, who wants the gas industry to thrive, just like Norway.
Fossil fuels kill people + planet.
The Australia Institute are cool with that.
Shut it down.
Don't donate to these grifting arseholes that sell donated food to poor people and make massive bank off of taxpayers. As well as 500% profit because everything is free and thier fuel is subsidised.
@shellslies.bsky.social What happens when countries like Norway tax fossil fuels? Investment in fossil fuels go up, so do emissions. You can't have health + wealth on a dead planet.
Shell is involved in both Australia + Norway.

New research shows that the Japanese Government is making more money from killing people + planet with fossil fuels than what Australia is!
Solution: Australia needs to make more money killing people + planet, just like Norway!

Norway govt owned Equinors emissions are GROWING.
What evidence do you have that it's not?
Agreed, it's time for journalists to do their job. They're failing miserably.
Taxing gas and being like Norway is not a solution. Who in media is speaking out about it?
"Right now, it is deeply in the public interest that the press hammers local, state and federal governments for the failure to commit to a phaseout of oil, gas and coal."
Do add thinktanks + NGOs to that list for asking to tax gas, instead of phasing it out.
Norway = taxing, enabling fossil fuels.
If we taxed gas, we could invest in healthcare! Education! Think of all the things! Australia could invest in those things *now* but chooses to invest in diesel subsidies and Palintir.
Taxing gas does not fix the problem of where our taxes go.
#AusPol #diesel #taxgas
Norway taxed gas. This is what happened to all that gas money.
They invest in more fossil fuels. Is that what you want, Australia?
