That’s why I like to shear a couple weeks before lambing. Keeps moms cleaner during delivery, babies can find the teats easier and no wool break from birthing/nursing

I few things to improve upon but generally I like it! Started working on a rust coloured linen version today #crafting #selfdraftedpattern #pinafore #handmade
Thicker seems to leave more options open. I can split it if I want to or pre draft… and I find the mini mill roving in bumps tends to get felty when it sits (but this may also be a fibre content thing since most braids seem to be fine wools and milled stuff more medium wools, in my stash anyways)
Look at how bright and healthy and perfect those look!! 🤩
My toxic trait is believing it’s faster/easier to draft my own pattern entirely from scratch than print one off and follow someone else’s directions. Working on a pinafore dress today
Shop update at 9pm et tonight! Previews up now at stitchandsteelhomestead.com
Still really feeling like poop but I managed a little bit of wool work today…
Dove is too! Love romneys
Hoping to get around to posting a shop update tomorrow or Wednesday!! Lots of funky weird experiments in this bunch but they should be fun to spin!
I imagine this is what my ewe lamb Dove will look like when she’s all grown up lol. What breed?
Winter makes wool-Being outside instead of cooped in a barn in the winter encourages longer staple lengths and denser fleeces. And under 5+ inches of wool right now, the sheep barely even feel it!

Red sky at night…
I don’t really like change. But I don’t like Meta more. So I’m trying this new thing and I hope it sticks. Please enjoy the icy majesty of the view from my driveway.
