The idea of basing disability needs off functional assessment is utter bullshit. It's means testing by another name. I'm considering highly functional to the point where I was told disability doesn't impact my life, but that ignores all the money I've invested in things to make life possible
There’s ppl on the NDIS for psychosocial conditions where if the supports are withdrawn they will be a threat themselves & others, costing millions in damages. Framing supports as only open to ppl with “profound disability” exposes the stereotypes and prejudices in public understanding of disability
The idea that stability of condition precludes people from support is terrible: creates a revolving door of medicalisation and relapse / flare / episode
