I am incredibly grateful to @aaronlelito.bsky.social and @wildroofjournal.bsky.social for including my essay “Fear Is a Rabbit” in their summer issue. I’m so proud of this piece, which explores the way we (humans) dispense hurt & what we mean by it.

Oh wait, you can't.
End rant.
to the medical side of my plan, it might get covered. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
a fair amount of money in the long run. The prior authorization was denied within 20 mins of submission because my pharmacy benefits don't cover it. I called customer service to get more info (because they wouldn't just tell me, of course) and was told if the provider resubmits it
I have a chronic illness. My chronic illness costs my insurance plan an obscene amount of money because formulary negotiations make no sense. A legitimate healthcare provider who specializes in treating a symptom I have recommended a medication that would save the insurance company
I mean, don't explain it, because I know why. It's not meant for us to understand. It's meant to tire us out and deplete our emotional resources so the insurance companies keep their profits and we stay sick.
A Rant: On the American Healthcare System (again).
I work in pharma. I am a Compliance person. I have above average knowledge for a healthcare consumer about our healthcare system, including where we interact with insurance plans. So please explain to me WHY I AM STILL CONFUSED AS HELL.
I saw this mushroom today. And also this bark.
MIGHT BE?!?!?!
I don’t really know how jumping spider lineage works but every spring I get a coworker in my home office. I like to imagine it’s the same family living here for generations - at least 5 years at this point. #spiders #jumpingspiders
Why would we believe jobs numbers from this administration?
My town is kinda going through it right now - our mayor recently was arrested for a stupid choice. I watched the recording of the public comments from last night's town council meeting and it made me think of this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOKX...
😍
The wind hits different when you are in a treehouse.
On a solo writing retreat to continue revision on my memoir. Haven't really touched it since the last retreat in January, but Past Rachel left really terrific notes for Today Rachel so I can just right back in. Thanks, Past Rachel!
We will not allow this to become normal.
The Trump regime is trying to crush dissent beginning with those who speak out for Palestinian freedom. This is a threat to all who believe in justice. Tell Congress to protect students & demand Mahmoud’s release: bit.ly/freemahmoudnow

Is it time for a communal scream into the void session? I'll go first. Reply with your screams please.
In the world of "we need some good news," I subscribed to this Patreon where I get a photo of some nice mushrooms every morning, and then I get a mushroom mailer every month. It's just been such a good decision. @lukelukeluke.bsky.social www.patreon.com/c/luke_venec...
Long week. Self soothing with Hall and Oates’ Unplugged set.
Can anyone tell me in what fever dream literature a character ends up with his eyes pecked out by birds? Pretty sure I didn’t imagine it.
This season I am fascinated (&, if I’m honest, slightly annoyed) by Mason’s vocal fry. I’ve never heard such a distinct, unceasing male vocal fry & it has me thinking about how women’s voices are policed so aggressively, but men’s voices aren’t.
Every season, I say I’m not going to watch Love is Blind, & every season I watch anyway. I know there are a lot of problems with the show but it’s such an interesting sociological study.
It's violent. We're here on a visit,
Do you need a palate cleanser? This live feed of the Brownville Food Pantry for Deer is amazing. Open only during the winter, this food pantry helps the local deer population survive the Maine winter until healthy browse is available again. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASu9...
