Yesterday I went to the neurodiversity-affirming clinical excellence network for SLTs round table discussion on ND, professionalism and intersectional identities. The speakers were incredible and so generous.

So much to digest still, but at the forefront of my mind is feeling full of joy from sharing space with a incredible group of people, thank you Kate Boot 🏳️‍🌈, May Lam, Vanessa Kurankye, Wing Yee Lam, Fatimah Bint-Hanif, and Simon Bedeau

It was such a pleasure to experience and demonstrate a small example of creating a safER space to talk and share about these topics and great to hear how helpful some many people found it.

We touched on the realities of who's comfort and safety is often prioritised in discussions about inclusion, accessibility and intersectionality

We touched on the weaponization of 'professionalism' and how we are trained to erase our positionality as clinicians.

We had the opportunity to reflect on our experiences as #SaLT with intersecting identities, and the relationship between our identities and our practice for both the people we support and ourselves

Such an honour to join a wonderful panel on Friday!
There is no #neuro-affirming, #trauma-informed, #accessible practice without reflecting on intersectionality.
The sociopolitical realities of the people we work with is central to the ethics & effectiveness of clinical practice.

I have been mourning the loss of my old #autistic twitter space, so happy it to see we are finally doing it and moving over :) here is to the main hours of hyper focus on here to come 😀
