My article has been published today in @peerj.bsky.social peerj.com/articles/20388 #Paleontology
JUST PUBLISHED!!!! A major azhdarchoid phylogeny paper coauthored with @skyemcdavid.com - the fruit of years of work - is now out in @journalsystpal.bsky.social! New clades, reconstruction of size evolution, and more. Full thread to come soon!

Holotype of Ornithocheirus huxleyi in dorsal view
Holotype of Ornithocheirus huxleyi in ventral view
While going through ptero collections with @zhejiang0pterus.bsky.social we have rediscovered the missing holotype of Ornithocheirus huxleyi Seeley, 1870 in the collections of the British Geological Survey @bgs.ac.uk
Great job!!!

Hi Bluesky, I need your help. Please share broadly:
We have an EXCELLENT job opening. We are looking for a non-Brazilian visiting scholar who specializes in Genomics applied to animal evolution, biogeography, and/or biodiversity. This is a one-year contract that can be extended for up to 4 years.
hahahaha tipo isso
Payment is consistent with a full professor position.

Now, for a complaint: this is, quite obviously, a paleontology paper. It deals with taphonomy.
We had desk-rejections from two paleontology journals because of the actualistic experiments.
An editor told me the paper "had no fossils". We analyzed 306 fossils. So disappointing.
3 sets of comparative pictures. On top there's a winged mayfly in lateral view, with the wing margins withered. Next to it, a fossilized winged mayfly also with withered wings. In the middle there is a mayfly nymph that lost its head, next to a fossil showing the exact same disarticulation. On the bottom, a dragonfly nymph with an extended mouthpiece, and next to it, a fossil (but in ventral view) also with the extended mouthpiece.
Here are some modern x fossil comparisons:
- winged mayflies with withered wing margins
- unlucky mayfly nymphs with disarticulated heads
- dragonfly nymphs with extended mouth apparatus
They are the *exceptions*. Most Crato Formation aquatic insects fossilized quickly and are well-preserved.
New paper alert! In our new paper @plosone.org, lead author Arianny Storari collected, reared, and analyzed decay and disarticulation of hundreds of aquatic insects, and compared them to Crato Formation fossils to figure out what happened to them before they fossilized.

Are you sure about that? The paper says it is in the museum in Marrakesh.
We live in the ✨ world of tomorrow ✨
Loved the Yixian one!!

Um mundo sem David Lynch é um mundo infinitamente menos interessante
Director-writer David Lynch, who radicalized American film with with a dark, surrealistic artistic vision in films like “Blue Velvet” and “Mulholland Drive” and network television with “Twin Peaks,” has died. He was 78. bit.ly/40is3yQ
:(
Todo dia no Bluesky a vibe é: um pobre hipotético e um americano hipotético entram num bar
Meus pêsames!
Eu não ouvi o podcast na época, mas li a reportagem de agora, e tem muitos detalhes, o negócio é chocante.
