A personal note on Archaea: these extraordinary microorganisms never cease to challenge our ideas about life’s limits and possibilities. Time and again THEY ask the important questions and astonish us with their biological ingenuity. Exploring them remains one of science’s great adventures.

Science is never a solo effort. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside exceptional people who make discovery both possible and enjoyable, especially within the Germany Archaea Centre at the @uniregensburg.bsky.social , where teamwork and shared curiosity drive much of what we do.

If you love RNA and RNA machineries as much as we do at @uniregensburg.bsky.social we encourage young scientists who want to start their own lab to apply.

A new preprint from the @archaeon-alex.bsky.social and Joey Davis (MIT) labs! We solved the structure of the ribosome from the archaeon Haloferax volcanii and discovered a new highly conserved ribosome hibernation factor that we named AHA (AMPKγ–HPF from Archaea) 🧵⬇️ www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
