An online review of a local clown says: “Not what I had hoped for
Disappointed. We agreed he would bring balloons for $20.
He showed up with 3 or 4 saying one got away from him.
Spent time playing a video game. Walked on the bowling alley - and fell down (needed to have the bowling alley shoes). Clothing seemed unkept. Clown face makeup was
scant.”

I’m afraid this review is a disservice to Marjorie Bowen and her novel, The Haunted Vintage. The plot as set out in this post has nothing at all to do with her novel. It’s not much in the great scheme of things but if you’re going to post a review, at least read the book you are reviewing.

There are currently only 22 films streaming on Netflix made before 1980 and not a single one made before 1960, with the oldest film on the platform currently being PSYCHO. I know I’m a broken record but: buy physical media, support your local library, etc etc

Re-starting this link thread because today’s anniversary brings to mind an essay I wrote in 2013 about three women whose lives and deaths were usurped by JFK conspiracy theories:

Man buys an acid tab. Goes home and leaves it on the kitchen table. Goes upstairs. Comes back down later and it's disappeared. Says to his Mum "have you seen my tablet?" Mum says "never mind your tablet. There's a dragon on the shed."

Striptease, the execrable movie based on Carl Hiaasen's first-rate 1993 novel Strip Tease. Boneheaded adaptation, stripped of Hiaasen's whip-smart wit, don't judge this class author by that movie.
