No doubt many sectors and programs need to be re-structured for better efficiency and service for the end user - but cutting the NDIS under the backdrop of increasing defence spending by multiple of billions of dollars to placate the US - is shameful #npc #auspol

How they treat fraud.

$3,000,000,000 - 40 months
$100 - 180 months

Crime is only crime for the poor, can't be sending the rich to jail.

Or they might end up there themselves

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Seems like if several ubiquitous health care interventions cause autism, we should really be studying those freaks who ended up neurotypical.

Millions of Australians at risk from rising sea levels and heat deaths to soar, national climate risk assessment report warns Climate risk assessment find heat-related deaths would surge 450% in Sydney if global heating surpasses 3C

Successive Australian Govt’s haven’t been telling the truth about the huge costs of not acting on climate.

Good to see the Albanese govt has finally released the National Climate Risk Assessment.

They need to back it up with a 2035 target of at least 75%.

The North West Shelf project has caused WA gas and electricity prices to TRIPLE since it started exporting domestic gas reserves in 2020.

Now the Federal Government has approved extending the project to 2070, and it will only get worse.

“Approving new fossil fuel exports is destroying the future. It isn’t just a betrayal of our Pacific neighbors, it is a betrayal of all Australians, putting the profits of foreign-owned fossil fuel corporations ahead of our wellbeing, security & prosperity,” said @richarddenniss.bsky.social. #auspol

Had a read of the climate risk report... oddly didn't see anywhere it saying "and therefore approving a 50 year extension to the North West Shelf is all good"

I call on the Australian government to #RaiseTheRate of all support payments to a living wage.
This would be the single most effective way to lift the productivity, quality of life, and well-being of the whole country.

How do they "reconcile" their Murujuga rock art cultural heritage-destroying North West Shelf Extension carbon bomb to 2070, with ‘Respect for Culture and Heritage’❓

Remember all that fulminating in the billionaire press about "free speech" (ie their freedom to abuse Muslims, trans people etc with impunity)? Now that people are being arrested for speaking about an issue of the utmost gravity, the self-appointed guardians of liberty have fallen strangely silent.

It's easy to forget Australia has a Labor government when some of Albo's decisions have a strong Morrison smell about them. The envoy appointed to placate perpetually outraged Zionists is a huge misstep. #auspol

Why any strategy to combat antisemitism must also address Islamophobia Australia’s newly released Plan to Combat Antisemitism has sparked strong debate and rightly so.

Anti-racism doesn’t play favourites. Australia has an opportunity to lead by example, to build anti-racism strategies that unite us, not divide us and ensure no one is left standing alone. #auspol #racism
