A big discussion in environmental fields is how to “convince” policymakers to invest in solutions. But when politicians across the aisle sideline environmental protection & public health, it’s obvious this isn't a communication problem. It isn’t lack of evidence, it’s political priorities: money.
Can we please out the think tanks that are coming up with these policies that are being applied or suggested in so many countries right now. I can assure you that they are a bunch of losers with lots of money from rich eugenicist dudes

Israel has killed over 38,000 women and girls in Gaza, according to the U.N. Another reminder the war on Gaza is about collective punishment not self defense.

UN humanitarian chief: “For every day of this conflict, $2bn is being spent. My entire target for a hyper-prioritised plan to save 87 million lives is $23bn. We could have funded that in less than a fortnight of this reckless war.”

They’ll dismantle social safety nets, the health system, weaken workers’ rights, push retirement further out, and undermine pension systems - all before taxing the rich. And this is happening in Germany, the US, Argentina and so on...
I am sorry but the right position for the staunch supporters of Harris, who really care about human rights, should have been to pressure their candidate to push to stop their admin's support of a genocide. It's truly insane the level of double standards these people have.
The worst part is that Mehdi was highly criticized for actually telling people that Harris was the candidate to vote on those elections. Much of these democrats are pissed bc people like wouldn't just make Gaza again the exception of their supposed liberal stands.

IDF commanders told Haaretz that southern Lebanon is being demolished “like Gaza.” The declared goal is to prevent civilians from being able to return.
Both are war crimes punishable under international law.

I made pastafrola (aka crostata in Italy) with Copao's fruit (Eulychnia breviflora) marmalade. I'm sooo looking forward to eating it along with mate tomorrow. 🌵💚
Don't get me wrong, I do use them to help me check sentences that I find unconvincing. Just not to think for me, find references, or write chunks of text.
#Job opportunity! We are looking for a post-doc with experience in quantitative #ecology, preferably with modelling plant dynamics at large scale, to work 2 years with the fantastic @climatecocentre.bsky.social at @qubelfastofficial.bsky.social .

How many more images of NICU babies having to be rescued by brave people because Israel is bombing hospitals do we have to see until we DO SOMETHING??
I will remember every person who justified these atrocities parroting Israeli propaganda. This is how complicity looks like.
Javier Milei wollte die argentinische Wirtschaft entfesseln. Zwei Jahre später zeigen neue Daten: Seine Politik hat die industrielle Basis des Landes zerstört.
It's so frustrating! As I said on another comment, I really hope that hiring committees start seeing this as a red flag. It clearly does not reflect how good one is as a scientist (arguably it didn't do it before either).
This so much 👇
Exactly. I recently saw a person who had more than 50 papers in one year. So basically they worked on a paper per week, either writing it or being a co-author. Something's not adding up.
I really hope that hiring committee's start to see this as a red flag.
If we combine these type of advice with the fact that so many people just look up for "truth" in Chatbots and don't question them for a second, we should be very very concern.
I am getting more and more concern at witnessing how people thing that our job as scientists can just be done by chatbots. That also includes scientists, sadly.
I tell people that I am working on a project proposal and they are like, oh just ask ChatGPT to do it for you.
