The Money Is Not There Three collapses in a weekend the blockade ended — notes on the government, the opposition, and the tradition I write from

Follow-up to “The Blockade Is the Message” is up.
3 collapses in a weekend the blockade ended:
📌a gov’t that found €750m for a tractor but not €100m for disability
📌an opposition that filed the right motion on the wrong grounds
📌a tradition claimed by people it was built against

There is a staggering gap between Trump's confidence in his extraordinary talents, so that a great power's strategy can be safely left to his mood of the moment, and the harsh reality of his limited grasp of the meaning of the events unfolding around him. As he starts from the assumption that there is none more powerful, his default tactics always involve bullying. When the targets are unresponsive all he can do is either double down, with ever more lurid threats, or else move on, as if there was never an issue, without acknowledging defeat.

Once again it's being made obvious that we're governed by people who can't see more than a week into the future.

As for the protests? The left at a constant disadvantage cause we won't do stuff like shut the country down and hold it to hostage.

BE MORE SELFISH is the message broadcast loud & clear

If we want the gardai to clear the blockades at the refineries, we’re going to have to do the unthinkable: gently drape a Palestinian flag over one of the trucks

Protestors: The government refuses to acknowledge our concerns

Me: Holy shit! So they're not meeting with Farmers & Hauliers?

Protestor: LOL no. They are

Me: So...they're not discussing fuel subsidies?

Protestor: Haha no they are

Me: Which concerns, exactly?

Protestor: Oh, you know the ones

This is the result of a government strategy that ignores problems in the hope that the market will sort it all out eventually

-Ignored the radicalising influence of social media companies
-Ignored climate action
-Ignored international law
-Ignored growing inequality

Despite the difficulties Muslim Sisters of Éire managed to feed those who needed their help tonight.
Only to be verbally abused by racist arseholes who are so stupid they can't conceive that Irish born and bred people can also be Muslim.

Note that our government is doing nothing to reduce fuel *use*, just redirect our tax money to reduce our perception of fuel costs.
In this, or the housing crisis, or any other problem, they will never do anything that stops money flowing to big businesses.
They literally cannot think it.

Certainly there's nothing in the history of AGS to suggest that this will be misused.

The concentration camps where Israelis have been torturing Palestinians are now death camps. But it’s okay, according to racist scum in the West, because it’s “democratic”. May you all rot in hell.

BREAKING: Israel's Knesset has passed a law to execute Palestinian detainees.
Death by hanging. Mandatory sentencing. No pardon. 90 days to carry out.

It applies through military courts with a 96% conviction rate. It does not apply to Israelis.

Just to clarify, since some don’t seem to understand: 1) This death sentence will be delivered by military courts, there’s no jury, no representation 2) These military courts try Palestinian children 3) A child who throws a stone can be deemed a “terrorist” and now put to death.

Numerous Israeli politicians have said things to the effect of “there are no innocents in Gaza”, “they are all collectively responsible for October 7”, “they are all terrorists, yes, even the children”, and there are numerous reports, going back decades, of Palestinians being tortured into claiming credit for crimes they didn’t commit—it was only days ago that we saw images of a baby boy with cigarette burns on his legs, tortured by the IDF to get his father to confess—and despite all this, there are dipshits in my mentions trying to pretend like it matters how this executioner’s bill defines terrorist, as if we were talking about a normal state with normal legal mechanisms instead of an apartheid colony that has been systematically mass murdering Palestinians every day for the past three years and now has a legal mechanism for killing the 10,000 or so people they have detained. Anyone defending this is a psychopath.

I hope that people on here can conjure as much energy for the fact that Israel has 'legalized' arbitrary military 'court' death sentences for stone-throwing Palestinian children as they can for indignation at hearing the words "Free Palestine."

I truly do.

Taoiseach lied to journalists about US soldiers at Shannon The claim “there are no weapons” was a lie.

Micheál Martin lied to journalists when he said armed US soldiers weren't landing at Shannon Airport.

Martin said there are “no weapons” passing through the airport – but his colleague Darragh O’Brien authorised US troops carrying guns to land there.

Opinion: The only way Israel can govern the Gaza Strip without becoming an external oppressor of “another people” is to remove “the other people” from the confines of the Gaza Strip itself.

Following this foiled terrorist plot, I assume all of my fellow Jews will have to answer the questions “Do you condemn the Jewish Defense League” and “Do you condemn Jewish terrorism” just like every Muslim was asked about Hamas, right?

NO. Because it was not “Terrorism”

It was an isolated random act of vandalism as documented by the investigation

Now go condemn oct 7.

We are failing in our responsibility for Ireland's children. We have allowed unforgivable harm to come to them in the name of allowing investors to treat homes as a commodity.
This is not an unavoidable reality, it is a choice. It is the result of policy decisions thst prioritise profit over kids.

Everyone should have a home
Yet 17,308 human beings are now in emergency accommodation
Yet the CSO announced this week there were over 70,000 homes vacant which could be compulsory rented
This is a broken social contract
This is down to government policy
This is #DerelictIreland

INT. MURPHY’S BAR – DAY

It is 10 a.m. Everyone is already singing.

TOMEEN stands at the bar, having undergone all emotional development off-screen.

The BARMAN pours two pints of Guinness without asking.

A slow fiddle cover of a Cranberries’ song swells.

Yesterday morning I stepped outside on my balcony for coffee with my wife and our neighbor. The drone was as low as it has ever been. We saw it over our heads. Below, our alleyway had turned into a parking lot for displaced people’s cars. A school next door is hosting around 1500 people.
