Every person who complains about this should have to take a course on how our democratic and parliamentary systems work ...

Buddy rarely plays with toys, but my yard is currently littered with them thanks to Bob (a big dog we are looking after for a week). I am sitting outside reading and I noticed Bud destroying a toy. Also please note Teddy going over to Buddy to make sure Bud's penis and butt are okay.
Today is the end of my 14 days off. I was away for part of it, and no longer have any idea what day of the week it is. Also why did Past Me think returning to work on a Thursday was a good idea?!
What if the most equal thing you can do is honour someone’s hierarchy?
Part 2 of our series digs into Daoist, Confucian, and Coast Salish models of power—where hierarchy serves the collective, not the individual.

This is what confuses me about people complaining about the government forcing us in to 15 minute cities...but then complain there is nothing nearby?!
A map showing driving route from Langford to Prince Rupert
Easier, but much longer lol
A tired woman with purple hair, wearing an olive jacket with a rainbow hoody
That's a wrap on the first #GruberCon. Now waiting for a bus to go on a barge, then an airplane, then another airplane, then home.
Did I ever tell you about the time I lost the security car keys when I was a night security guard? I was driving down the highway and had a gut dropping panic that I didn't know where the ignition keys were.
A sage green garden bed on green grass along a brown wood fence. It is filled with dirt.
A sage green L shaped garden bed on green grass. It is filled with dirt.
Today we did physical labour. Dirt is heavier than expected.
I've been caught in a (random!) bureaucratic labyrinth in recent months, which I'll hopefully escape in a few weeks—but it's cut me off for now from small standard benefits I was counting on to cover bills. Any assistance gratefully accepted!

EXCEPT THE SOUP IS SO SPICY YOU COULD DIE.

A pile of brown leaves on a driveway. A small white dog is on the left and a small grey dog is near the top
Leaf piles have the most interesting sniffs
🚨 Canada deported 22,000 people last year. That's the highest on record. And CBSA is planning to deport 400 people A WEEK in 2026. We're not making immigrants the solution anymore. We're making them the scapegoat. And by doing so, Canada's future will be bleak.

This. This is the truth.
Today we set up Michael's new garden bed. I put the dogs in it and they were in jail for over 30 seconds before they realized they could just jump out...
A printed ticket for the Arrogant Worms playing at the Mary Windspear Center in Sidney BC
I didn't know the Arrogant Worms still toured!
First half of the show was so good! So glad we got tickets.
🐾 New episode! My 8-year-old son Lincoln joined me on Canadian Salad this week and honestly? He out-philosophized me. We explored how different cultures view pets & why our judgments about their animals often reveal more about our assumptions than their values.

A small white dog curled up on the back of a dark coloured couch
Dear Teddy Bear: you would have less urine on your head if you would stop trying to sniff your brother's prepuce while he is peeing. Just a thought.
At the townhouse we had different recessed lights we couldn't grab. I used duct tape and smooshed a sticky hunk on the bulb to give me something to grab

All fancied up for dinner at Government House. Long Service Awards dinner, I hit 25 years last year.
Clean shirt, clean pants, AND clean socks! Not bad for someone who works from home in sweatpants most days.
We made a whole episode about good news and honestly? We needed it. Your brain needs 5 good news stories for every 1 bad one. We gave you 7. You're welcome. 🌿 S3E26 of Canadian Salad Podcast — out now. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!
A photo of a cranky woman wearing a red toque and a dark jacket with a lit vest. The photo was taken in the dark on a residential street and you can see the snow falling around her
SNOW?!?! The boys and I got snowed on during our early morning walk. That's just rude.
