Agreed and thanks. But more importantly when it comes to Europe, before we even start talking about de-risking or de-coupling, even from the big hyperscalers, we must answer questions regarding interdependence and security. I am afraid the politics of it shadow the reality.

Yes it will end badly unless we rally around the internet and try to guide governments towards a positive frame of digital sovereignty
The Council of Europe High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty is rightly concerned - banning children is the easy way out but the repercussion may be detrimental for kids safety and their rights. www.techdirt.com/2025/12/17/w...

Protecting children online is essential—but how we regulate matters. Europe’s platform debate must safeguard child safety without undermining free speech, anonymity, & democratic resilience. Smart, rights-based regulation is key

We blamed the internet for breaking journalism. Fine.
Turns out the real damage comes from tech bros with endless money, zero spine, and a desperate need to stay on the right side of power.

I sat down with @masnick.com on the @techdirt.com.web.brid.gy Podcast this week to dig into a nuance often lost in the #AI hype: whether these tools are actually giving us more control or quietly taking it away.

#Greece is about to start a review of its Constitution and it is considering including #AI in it. But, the question that lingers is: what does that really mean? It seems Greece does not have a strategy or a plan -- so here's an attempt to guide the conversation.

It was such a pleasure to co-host with @mmasnick.bsky.social the Cyril-Alt-Speech podcast and talk about what’s been going on with the Internet this past week: #TikTok and the US, Europe’s #digitalsovereignty and #Eurostack, the #Grok mess and others!
Check it out 👇
It really doesn’t matter that #TikTok is under US ownership. The #censorship is the same as if it were under Chinese ownership, if not more brazen! 👇👇👇👇

Watching Venezuela today, I can’t help but think of the Melian Dialogue. In 416 BCE, Athens told Melos: “The strong do what they can; the weak suffer what they must.” Venezuela is a 21st-century Melos.

Nick Clegg claims technological insight from his tenure at Meta, but he learned little from it. He failed to grasp the need for regulation, never appreciated why big tech must be held accountable, and overlooked the essential role of transparency in technology design.
Because in a world drawn by networks rather than borders, the question isn’t who wins. It’s who designs the map.
If democracies want to compete, they must stop selling ideals and start building alternatives — openly interoperable, rights-anchored systems that don’t trap users or nations in someone else’s ecosystem.
