Ever wondered what snow measurements look like?
In March 2026, Ross Woods joined University of Birmingham students in Switzerland to study snowpacks: digging pits, measuring the properties of snow layers & exploring water resources in a changing climate.

27 km is the height of a pyramid made of all the ice that has melted from glaciers since 2011. This is about 3 times the height of Mount Everest.

The planet has lost 4,300+ gigatonnes of glacier ice since 2011.

That’s enough to build a pyramid 3× taller than Everest.
