New: 150 unionized ProPublica workers are on strike TODAY over AI, layoff protections, wages, and more.
They're asking readers to not visit ProPublica or engage with content on other platforms. It's the first work stoppage of its kind at the newsroom.

I'm honestly not sure what happened. I just followed the link from the newsletter to sign up and I paid with Apple Pay and then I got kicked over to some other site that also wanted me to put in my info. I closed the tab so I don't know, but on stereogum it says I'm a member now.
@stereogum.com Is this actually part of the new member sign-up flow? everything about it feels like Im about to have my bank account hacked and drained
Come and explore the questions that haunted us throughout the 1990s: What is Computer? How can it hurt us? Can Computer be stopped? jude-doyle.ghost.io/scenario-101...
this is good!
I tend to agree. I have actually noticed leadership working this out in real time but we use ChatGPT to sickening amount still.
my company (a design/ brand agency) is so ALL IN on AI it's wild. my main worry is that AI will get good enough that genz and anyone else CANT tell, but I think (hope) the AI companies will go out of business before it gets there. Seeing the progress over the last 4 years is wild tho.
Michael Bise is collecting every Gap instore playlist from 1992 to 2006. He's getting close. One of my favorite stories I've worked on in a while.

Really happy with my Letterboxd Friday. Four four-star movies. "I wanna rob." Deakins best work of the century? Llewelyn is the cat? To Live and Die in LA is an actual classic #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday #letterboxd #filmsky
it's scratching a very destiny itch for me, without the farming (sort of... leveling factions is kind of slow) where the gear itself is less important than the gameplay. figuring out which guns are better in general helps a lot
It's a very colloquially addicting game. Every move feels very meaningful, but the structure of the game makes everything completely meaningless.
wait, this is real?
LFG!
I'm sure I'll play plenty of Marathon so the main thing I absolutely cannot wait any longer for is the full soundtrack release. the music in that game is so good
society is on the fritz bc rappers stopped rhyming "area" with "hysteria"
Roses are red
Tulips are bright
I honestly don't think this is true, but the general idea of a twin peaks IS a load bearing pillar.
comedy bang bang fan??
Re-upping just because all the Discourse I could possibly engage in is less useful than this confidential, encrypted legal and peer support line for military members who believe their orders are illegal or immoral and want to know the best way to resist them.
where's their film adaptation, huh???
Marathon the game may or may not be pretty mid, but the soundtrack is absolutely incredible. By far the best part of the experience
The British release of the films called If I Had Kicks I'd Leg It
At Xtra: It feels like hope and rage are the only two feelings that anyone is allowed to have about The State of Things, but real hope comes from feeling all the other, harder emotions: xtramagazine.com/power/activi...
I have plenty (PLENTY) of nice conversations with real humans who have vastly different politics than me. I always come away feeling depressed and angry that they're decent enough to be nice to your face while hoping you and your family die or get sent to a random third world country.
Christopher Nolan fans are getting out of control
The broader thing is called intelligence
Lol seriously? Never ever buying anything from you ever again after what you did to destiny
