Two dogs positioned in the way that a Pelican in her piety would be. The larger dog is a Borzoi and is giving a Kong instead of a blood drop to an Australian Shepherd puppy. To further mimic the Pelican, both dogs have wings.
Drew art of a Friend's dogs in the Position of a Pelican in her Piety for her upcoming elevation to the #SCA Order of the Pelican. The recipient does hound coursing and scribal arts. It's got a Kong instead of a blood drop for her too. #scribal #illumination

I was honored this weekend with becoming a member of the Order of the Dragon's Heart in the SCA Kingdom of the Middle.
This is a Grant Level Award for Service.
I was not expecting this and am still slightly in shock.

Baronial Cooking Champion for cooking a period recipe of Asparagus with Saffron.
I got given a handmade spice jar that's a recreation of a 14th or 15th century Italian spice jar as a prize.
Such good vibes!
Tray of chocolate baklava
Trust the locals to know the best places to eat.
Managed to have Turkish food when I was up in Michigan and the restaurant not only had some AMAZING Chocolate Baklava... they would sell you a box you could take home.
Now I get to spoil myself for a little while at least at home.
Entered #SCA #Midrealm Queen's Prize Tourney this past weekend at ValDay and made a 13th Century Honey Pudding with Almonds.

Let me emphasize: Elon Musk has not been confirmed by Congress. His “department” was never actually enacted. No one other than Trump has given him any authority.
Democrats and any Republicans with a spine need to step in and stop this madness.

It's bad. We're scared and feel helpless in the midst of it all.
Celtic knotwork on a piece of pergamenata
Knotwork is the bane of my existence... but did some as practice and for something to just focus on for a bit that wasn't everything else.

Onyx Storm Book
New book FINALLY arrived.
Part of this project is taking the not at all standardized period way this was written and making sense of that and figuring out modern measurements and such.
Promise I'll post the recipe when I have it fully sorted and I'll have a writeup even of my thought process of why I did what for the recipe
When I finish puting it in actual measuring terms and such, of course!
The flavor profile is really interesting. @berserkerbear.bsky.social and I both liked it more as we had more of it.
You could also substitute cornstarch for wheatstarch if gluten is an issue.
Image is of a recreation of a 13th century Andalusian Honey Pudding
Working on test batches for my SCA Queen's Prize Tourney entry.
Mu'assal
It's a 13th Century Honey pudding with Almonds, Saffron, Rosewater, Wheat Starch, Water and Olive Oil.
I'll also be making a pulled sugar taffy to use as a garnish as per the recipe.

I love putting people's pets in their scrolls. At some point I swear I'm gonna put some paint (that is pet safe) on one of my cat's paws and have them walk across a page.
