How Teachers Can Judge the Credibility of Research (Opinion) As a teacher, your time is limited. Don't waste it on programs that only serve the interest of the companies selling them.

Look, causal inference studies can be good or bad regardless of where the person who produced it works, what field their degree is in, and whether they have a PhD. You have to actually look at what they did. There are no shortcuts.

Districts Without Borders? Neighborhood-based school assignment can cause racial and economic segregation--but that's not why conservative reform groups are all-of-a-sudden so interested in eliminating district boundaries.

In today’s newsletter I walk through new efforts to do away with school district boundaries.

It’s a tangled web of good faith intentions and…a stealth right-wing strategy to weaken public school advocacy.

More adults with developmental disabilities ending up in homeless shelters Officials with Inner City Health say they increasingly see adults with developmental disabilities in Ottawa’s shelter system.

Stable housing and meaningful supports are essential to dignity and inclusion. The fact that many adults with developmental disabilities have nowhere else to go is unacceptable, and we must work together to fix it.

Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping. Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.

This is what I've been sharing with folks who come to me privately & ask me to "do something" about the Alberta government. I respond to them and say "it needs to be your voice, not mine". I'm already out there doing all of @jaredwesley.ca's 10 points. Be brave, do just 2 steps for your own future.

Yes, Bishop! 👏🏾 In 2016, my church, St. Stephen's Anglican, sponsored one family's relocation to Calgary from Syria with two other churches. It took three (3) churches to help one (1) family. Faith communities do not have the volunteer capacity or financial capacity to do the work of the government.

Smith: The 1930s were a glorious time for education and healthcare in Alberta. Let's return to that.

This isn't a conservative vision.

It's radical and retrogressive.
