Sure, but the VWFC were the first movers into the market, and rightly or wrongly, competing in a blended Canadian/US league carries with it the impression of being truly 'top-flight'.

I regularly attend Cavalry FC games and honestly the concession prices are not that different from the Whitecaps.

In a place where it's often pouring rain or >30 degrees and sunny for the season's duration, having a metal bleacher stadium with no cover where your fans either cook or get soaked sets you up for failure.

Plus combining a terrible on-field product for their whole tenure explains the attendance #s.
