Love these little thickets of Red Deadnettle which guard the gateway to every field down our lane. The word ‘pink’ only came to describe the colour in the 17th century. Before then, ‘red’ was used for any colour from crimson to pink, which is why many pink wildflowers are called red #wildflowerhour
