AI Writing Is Not a Threat to the Arts. It's an Insult. | Beyond Writing Everyone is talking about AI stealing my job, but the real victim is anyone who enjoys reading something worthy of their time.

I liked this piece on AI and writing very much.

"As a writer, you are essentially making a contract with the reader. They offer their attention and you offer them something they deem worthy of their attention. The moment you stop doing that, you lose them."

Spent the weekend in Skegness and Mablethorpe. You will never take away my affection for British seaside naffness. It's firmly in my heart.

After a very dull first hour of #WrestleMania and about as much screen time for the Hogan doc as for the actual matches, I think bed is calling me.

And then if you challenge it, it's like "no of course you're right, I'm sorry" as if it's just a silly little goose who sometimes gets things wrong. Infuriating.

As someone who was too young to be properly into football when we were last in the Premier League (and certainly young enough that I had to Google that reference 😂), I'm very excited!

Got my ticket for the final Cov home game of the season and almost certainly the final Championship match at the CBS for at least a year. Should be a great day! 🩵 #PUSB

I have the Luxe membership and it's great value if you go often. Very few occasions require you to pay any extra on top.

I really enjoyed #TheDrama, but was caught off-guard by how often I found myself thinking about the Peep Show wedding episode during it.

Make of that what you will.

"Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled" has lived rent free in my head for decades. What are they talking about?

This is an absolutely beautiful cryptic crossword clue. About once a year, I try to teach myself how to do cryptics and I can just never make my brain do it.

I swear we normally get hailstones two or three times a year in this country, but it has happened two or three times this week. The vibe is end of days.

SNL UK has found extreme weirdness, and it works We're now two episodes into Saturday Night Live UK and the show has delivered a deeply weird second hour, hosted by Jamie Dornan. This should be the blueprint for the future.

#SNLUK is, so far, at its best when it's being weird. www.voicemag.uk/blog/16350/s...

if you don’t like the process of writing then don’t be a fucking writer, it’s not that complicated

Very happy with my #Cinematrix performance today, so I'm allowing myself a brag. 😂

Last One Laughing is just a tremendous TV show. Absolutely spectacular.

#ReadyOrNot 2 is not as viciously inventive as its predecessor (that ending really caught me off guard), but it's still absurdly violent fun. Samara Weaving is already a horror icon.

I struggled a little with the first half of #ProjectHailMary, but that final hour is properly brilliant stuff. Ryan Gosling forming a profound friendship with an alien rock amid loads of trippy visuals is exactly what I needed.

The many good, bad, and ugly attempts at Saturday Night Live UK Saturday Night Live UK is arriving on British TV screens at last, but channels have been trying to mimic the American comedy institutions for decades.

Ahead of the SNL UK debut show this weekend, I wrote about some of the other attempts to mimic Saturday Night Live in Britain. Some are good, some are terrible, and plenty of them have been entirely forgotten. uk.news.yahoo.com/saturday-nig...

If you want an idea of how well-organised my brain is at the moment, I just drove to a cinema half an hour from the one I was supposed to be at. 👍

Yeah, this is super weird. Imagine being angry at a comedy for "manipulating" you into laughing and you'll see how mad it sounds.

The race for everybody to make sure they proclaim that Sinners "isn't really a horror" continues to be exhausting.

1 month ago 1 0 0 0

You can google and see a SINNERS cast member saying it’s not horror. GDT is on the record saying FRANKENSTEIN isn’t horror. Nights like tonight should prove that horror is nothing to be ashamed of. If laughter from comedies and tears from dramas are universal, so are the feelings we get from horror.

Retain Churchill for how long? Forever? That's now how the banknotes work. They change once a decade or so to make it harder for counterfeiters.

Winston Churchill banknote row is a fascinating fake outrage story The media, as well as Nigel Farage, is up in arms about Winston Churchill being axed from the £5 note in favour of a beaver. But there's obviously more to this story than meets the eye.

Frankly, I don't know whether to laugh or cry about the Winston Churchill banknote thing. But, for anyone learning about journalism, it's a fascinating case study. www.voicemag.uk/blog/16286/w...

Film Review: Louis Theroux's Inside The Manosphere is solid, but surface-level In his first collaboration with Netflix, Louis Theroux delves into the world of manosphere figures like Andrew Tate and Sneako. But there's a sense of something missing.

Louis Theroux's documentary about the manosphere didn't quite work for me, and I enjoyed digging into why in this review. www.voicemag.uk/review/16277...
