I was a music performance major, so I played an hour-long organ recital featuring music by Bach, Franck, and Durufle.

My favorite day!! 😍
A Tumblr post by mjunebitch from 3 days ago that says: anyway if u watch the new Harry Potter show in any way for any reason you're part of the problem. if you pirate it you're part of the problem, if you "watch it critically" you're part of the problem, if you watch it for the purpose of a smug little video essay pointing out some problematic element in it, you're part of the problem. it doesn't matter if some element of the show is problematic, the show existing is problematic. don't give it any revenue or contribute to its cultural relevance. boycott it and let it wither on the fucking vine
the only take that matters
Small text at the top reads: When a virtuoso musician and her best friend align with rival noble houses, they don't realize they are sabotaging each other—or that one's ambition could mean the other's ruin. The movie-poster-size image features three people against a dark background scattered with stars. At the center, a young red-haired woman sits at a piano, looking determined and guarded. Above her, a young man looks thoughtful and furtive. Below her, a dark-haired woman with a dramatic gold necklace looks up through her lashes, quietly triumphant. Large text in the center reads: A SONG AGAINST RUIN Along the bottom of the page, text reads: Queer Friends ~ Magic Contracts ~ Political Intrigue ~ Villain as Love Interest
A SONG AGAINST RUIN (113k words) is an adult fantasy perfect for fans of Swordspoint, C. L. Polk, and scheming sapphics. #PosterPit #Q #F #A #LGBT
From my queer political fantasy A SONG AGAINST RUIN, for today's #FridayFling word, "whisper". #amquerying
Headline in Le Monde: 'The president of the United States is clearly insane': Donald Trump's escalatory rhetoric raises questions over his mental health
This should be the headline in every newspaper.
Thank you!! I'll send you a query later today!

a tumblr post with a user named bvckbiter writing "is this character good or bad" "is this shop unproblematic or not" "is this arc deserving of redemption or not" girl... underneath it is a screenshot from the show shōgun of a character saying "i don't have time for this christian nonsense"
How I feel reading 99% of art and media critique these days
congratulations!!
if Anita Bryant was still alive and promoting Florida orange juice, you couldn't pay me enough to drink it. how is Harry Potter any different?

On the right side of the image, an unsmiling auburn-haired white woman sits at a piano. She looks over her shoulder at the viewer; her expression is serious and determined. A shadow falls across her music book. The text on the image reads as follows: Agent's Guide A Song Against Ruin adult fantasy, 113k words, queer political intrigue (Image credit: Edgar Degas, Mademoiselle Dihau au Piano)
In the lower right corner, a dead bird lies on its back. The heading reads: Comps. In the center of the page are the covers of four books, with text beside the covers describing why they were chosen as comp titles. The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson features an ambitious, lower-class MC, weird gods, and ruthless nobles. The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo features an ambitious, lower-class MC, ruthless nobles, and high personal stakes. WITCHMARK by C. L. Polk features high personal stakes, political intrigue, and m/m romance. The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri features f/f romance and political intrigue.
On the left side of the image, a young white man holds a candle that illumines his face; the rest of him fades into shadow. He looks concerned. At the bottom left is a skull. The heading reads: Details. The rest of the text on the page reads as follows: - Adult fantasy, ~113k words - Dual POV - Features political intrigue, queer friendship/found family, sapphic villain-as-love-interest, m/m friends-to-lovers - Secondary-world urban setting (early 19th-century vibes) (Image credit: Gottfried Schalken, self-portrait)
In the upper left corner is a torn musical score. On the lower left side of the page, an elegant white woman dressed in black, with dark hair and pale eyes, gazes out at the viewer. The heading on the page reads: Pitch. The rest of the page reads as follows: In Dorn’s capital city, power stems from birth, wealth, and magic. Commoner best friends Lor and Firmen only have ambition—and each other. Lor, a virtuoso organist, sets out to dazzle noble society with her musical skill—and win back Veren, the noblewoman who broke her heart four years ago. Meanwhile, Firmen—a legal clerk for Veren’s noble family—is drowning in debt. He has nothing to sell except a perilous secret: Veren is at the center of a deadly conspiracy. As Lor is drawn into Veren’s glittering orbit and Firmen bargains with Veren’s enemies, neither friend realizes they are sabotaging each other—or that one’s ambition could mean the other’s ruin. two cats sitting on top of small boulders. the first cat is dangling its legs over the side the other is curled on top
poems with titles longer than the poem vs poems with a title so tucked and short it feels hardly there at all
Outrageous.
Stripping Liam Conejo Ramos and his family of asylum is beyond cruel and indefensible.
This decision must be overturned. Shame.
congratulations!!
Ah, we've reached the "banning same-sex marriage is not discrimination because everybody has an equal right to marry somebody of another sex" stage of recycling homophobic arguments to hurt trans people with
This is the exact same argument uses against gay marriage. "Gay people still have the equal rights to marry the opposite sex" or however they worded it. Just a pedantic, bigoted word game rather than a substantive argument, but that's all that anti-queer bigotry has ever been or will ever be.
I finally lost my shit about so-called AIs, LLMs, enshittification & everything fucking evil that @officialgrammarly.bsky.social is doing. I'm fucking furious, and not just about what 1 company has done. An open letter to Grammarly & the rest of the LLM hype machine www.moryan.com/an-open-lett...
I recently moved from central Texas to Chicago. I don't think I'll ever stop missing breakfast tacos.
too hard!! I cannot
The 2024/2025 SFF books I absolutely loved, in no particular order:
The Everlasting (Alix Harrow)
Notes From a Regicide (Isaac Fellman)
The Raven Scholar (Antonia Hodgson)
The Siege of Burning Grass (Premee Mohamed)
Asunder (Kerstin Hall)
Saint of Bright Doors (Vajra Chandrasekera)
I wrote about the first national book banning bill, which effectively seeks to erase trans people. At the end I include a link to let your reps know that you oppose this bill and all it stands for. lithub.com/why-we-must-...
I am going to link to organizations that I know for sure are helping trans Kansans. This thread will develop slowly as I either know people or will vet them.
At this point we have not heard from anyone being helped via relocation resources. These exist, but I assume they are overwhelmed.
I will also shout out TENT and the Texas freedom network.
And I will also just suggest filtering bsky.app for state + trans + help, and finding just a trans person who is struggling here and giving them money directly.
Link here: equalitytexas.org
Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT) is also great: transtexas.org
If trans people want/need to leave, that is worthy. It’s also worthy to stay and fight, or to need to stay and still need rights. Queer folks in red states need and deserve our support at least as much as the work being done from “safer” states
If you can, donate to queer/trans rights groups in red states!! There are so many queer people in red states who need our supoort, and who can't leave.
I left Texas for a blue state last year, but still donate monthly to Equality Texas: they fight tirelessly for queer Texans.
it's 2016: north carolina introduces a bill to ban trans people from using bathrooms safely. there's a national outcry; companies withdraw business up to and including the NCAA cancelling a publicized game. the bill fails.
it's 2026: kansas passes a law nullifying trans people's licenses. crickets.
