A lot of Warner titles are affected. There was a big announcement a year or so ago and a replacement offer for any discs you had. They’d either replace them or offer a refund if it was no longer available.

I wonder if Lon Chaney Jr ever made a movie sober.
Two custom tickets for The Strangers: Prey at Night. One is front facing and shows the killers in the film, the other is flipped over and has the directors signature visible on it.
Another killer night at @killerfitnessla.bsky.social, with a movie I had no interest in, a sequel to a film I thought was just OK.
Strangers: Prey At Night was a great surprise. A bigger, more enjoyable film than its predecessor.
Great stories from director Johannes Roberts.

Any Aquabats fans out there that haven’t had a chance to see their tribute to The Cure? Well @batsday.bsky.social has put together a show with both Sweet & Tender Hooligans and The Aquabats on May 2nd.
I’ve been wanting to see this set for years.

Lazy Sunday, plans fell through. Doing dishes, making breakfast, and #NowWatching Werewolf of Washington (1973)
I never had much interest in this one until I saw that the titular werewolf is Dean Stockwell!

Alright, I really need to start watching these.
The Way Back, his last film.
Poster for The Mosquito Coast, of a sweaty, bespectacled Harrison Ford looking confused.
Continuing my Weir journey.
#NowWatching The Mosquito Coast (1986)
This is only one of two remaining Peter Weir films I haven’t seen, and I have to say I’m intrigued by the idea of him directing a Paul Schrader script. Seems like two great flavors that would not go together.

Even if you didn’t know Hideaki Anno had directed this, his style is so distinct I think most people would recognize it within a few minutes.
Blu-ray copy of Shin Godzilla. Red background with a black profile of an angry looking Godzilla.
Time for some Godzilla Goodness!
#NowWatching Shin Godzilla
My youngest expressed interest in this after seeing some images of Godzilla’s early form in this one. Love this movie so much.

Hell yeah Summer Wars!
When I worked in the second-to-last Blockbuster I would play that pretty regularly on my shifts.
Vinyl copy of Goblin, the singles collection 1975-1979. A trio of images and the shadow of a clawed hand reaching for one.
Reverse cover of the Goblin vinyl.
Record Store Day is a problematic event to be sure, but I just can’t say no. I had only one thing I was looking for and struck out at each place.
But I did pick up this Goblin collection, which is pretty cool.
Also picked up the Hallo Spaceboy single for @ambergir.bsky.social.

What great news to wake up to!
Very excited for this. If you’re unfamiliar with the Lovecraft Investigations, all four seasons are available wherever you get your podcasts.
Start with The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, I’m probably gonna start a relisten today while in line for RSD.
Letterboxd ratings Michael Clayton (4 stars) Dolls (3.5) Witness (4) Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2)
As always, a little late with this.

After what I expect to be one of the worst movies I see this year, it was a pretty strong week!

Review is in: I liked it!
And the mystery was cool! I was pretty sure I knew what the explanation was for most of the movie but… well, let’s just say I was wrong, and couldn’t be more delighted by that.
Highly recommended.
The film takes place entirely in and around this theatre, as the cops keep everyone sequestered for more than 24 hours during the investigation. The boredom and claustrophobia in the film made me itchy.
It’s cool seeing a bunch of era-appropriate posters for things like A*P*E* and Tentacoli.
This was a real cool discovery, and reminds me that there’s always cool shit to find.
The movie has some fun with its premise, there’s humor in the writing and the directing throughout, and a cast full of amazing faces.
I would say the one drawback for me can also possibly be seen as a plus:
Poster for Closed Circuit. A stylized drawing of a pistol, with film reels over the cylinder to make it look kinda like a movie camera. At the end of the barrel a drop of blood. Tagline is ‘going to the movies can be murder.’
Change of plans with my movie watching.
#NowWatching Closed Circuit (1978)
Italian Made-for-TV murder mystery about a cop trying to determine which movie-goer shot a man in the audience of a spaghetti western.
One of those random finds while scrolling Tubi.

As I recall this was made quickly as an attempt to build anticipation for the script he and Roger Avery had written, that ended up unproduced. A sequel to this was supposed to come much quicker.
Watched this with my partner on Easter. They’d never seen it.
Oliver Reed, man. “Satan’s boy I could never be! I haven’t the humility.”
Actually it’s funny you posted this because just before I logged on I was thinking I should watch this tonight.
William Hope Hodgson, whose seafaring horror stories are really good (though kinda samey). A big influence on Lovecraft, and often credited as being the first person to use the tentacle as a source of horror.
Oh man this is a fave! Super creepy. So much fun.
It’s a great poster and I really loved the film, but don’t expect any variation on that image in the film.
Polish poster for Lokis: a Manuscriptof Professor Wittembach. Yellowed paper, a detailed pencil sketch of a man in an old fashioned suit.there are two large fanged mouths where his eyes should be, and two empty eye sockets above those.
Had physical therapy and a doctors appointment this morning so I took this #FolkHorrorFriday off.
#NowWatching Lokis: a Manuscript of Professor Wittembach
Polish folk horror that I know nothing about, but that’s a pretty cool poster.

My thoughts exactly when I saw the news. It’ll probably be noticeably better than DVD, and the audio will probably benefit, but beyond that it’s still gonna look like early 2000s consumer grade video.
A bit of a cheat maybe, because neither are great, but the movie Hannibal goes a long way towards fixing some of the major problems with the book. It’s a lot more enjoyable and satisfying as a story.
Oooh I disagree. I like him in this movie a lot.
All of my choices aside from After Life are movies that were repeat performers at our regular movie nights, pulled out whenever newbies came by.
If I kept that criteria for all 5 I should probably replace it with The Convent.
