Two Turkey Vultures perched at the tops of separate trees, both with wings fully outstretched in a sunning pose against a deep blue sky. Their bare red heads, brown mottled plumage, and silvery flight feathers are visible as they face slightly toward each other.

The horaltic pose — wings spread wide to catch the morning sun. Turkey Vultures do this to warm up, dry off, and bake off bacteria after a night's roost. Unglamorous reasons for a genuinely majestic sight.
