These little redbreasted nuthatches keep an eye on me when I'm gardening and will land on my hands while I'm refilling the feeders—and if a big scary bird is nearby, the nuthatches will only brave the feeders if Big Friend (me) is there to keep watch.🥺🪶

In the middle of the photo is a feeder with a green section where the birds get their food. Above the green is a clear tube there the feed is stored. This feeder only has two spots for the birds to get their food. On the left of the feeder is the red-winged black bird. He has a tiny bit of red on his wing closest to the feeder. The red doesn't really show until they are flying. On the right side of the feeder is a much smaller bird - a sparrow. The spare has brown markings and is various colors of brown. They are both looking off in the same direction - to the left of the photo. The background is a blurred wooden fence and a gray chainlink fence behind the wooden fence.

Aerial ballet. A brilliant sky blue Steller’s jay coming in for a landing at a feeder. The bird’s wings and tail are fully extended, every feather visible, ready for landing. Its wing and tail feathers have black bars along their length. The bird’s shoulder neck, head, crest, and eyes are ebony. The birdfeeder has a Frank Lloyd Wright vibe. It is made of pine with clear windows on each side, with black roof at a jaunty slant. There’s a tray on each side of the feeder for birds to sit on while chowing.

A male Allen's hummingbird perched at the tip of a twig pointing almost vertically. It's about a 3/4 shot from below. His long thin beak is pointing to the upper left corner, and his pointed tail to the lower right corner. His gorget is a beautiful shiny orange, his neck area is white, and his belly and chest are copper. His wings are green. His head is the same copper as his belly (from this angle).
