Artwork by Ara (https://artfight.net/~arakkami) and Valk (https://artfight.net/~valkriia)

A white graph background with a 'torn blue paper' design at the top and bottom of the page.

At the top of the page, the word 'REMINDER' can be seen in red text. Below that, the sentence 'Please don't make early attacks!' can be seen in black text.
To the bottom left-hand side of the image, the text 'it makes wormston realy sad...' can be seen. To the right of this text, a tearful, sad drawing of Wormston (one of Art Fight's mini mascots) can be seen.

This essay traces the long and turbulent history of American booksellers who have faced censorship, harassment, and even violence for defending the freedom to read. Through vivid anecdotes and historical cases-from undercover stings in the early 1900s and legal battles over “obscene” literature, to FBI surveillance of Black bookstores and bomb threats against feminist and LGBTQ+ shops-the author illustrates how bookstores have repeatedly become battlegrounds in the fight for civil liberties and free expression. Despite intimidation from both government and private groups, booksellers have pushed back, shaping legal precedents and rallying communities to defend First Amendment rights. The essay ultimately calls on readers to recognize bookstores as “arsenals of democracy” and to support their ongoing role in safeguarding intellectual freedom.

Kenyan #journalist Alvin Kaunda was reporting live from Nairobi when a curious baby #elephant, Kindani, decided to join the broadcast. The playful elephant stuck her trunk in Alvin's mouth, making for a hilarious moment! A joyful reminder of wildlife's charm and the work of the Sheldrick Trust!

a close up of a fox 's face in the snow with its eyes closed Alt: A fox in the snow with it's eyes closed, a hand comes from off screen and pokes it's nose gently and the fox opens it's mouth in a playful expression.

Would absolutely be cool to see different subspecies of Seikret based on location, and the domesticated version having different breeds based on usage (selectively bred for speed, strength, gliding, etc) and by what village is breeding them (and attributes they'd breed for in turn).
