Relatedly, the Mission Burrito's Wikipedia page is tremendously entertaining.

Here’s the thing: The letterspacing isn’t even very good!
Hilarious that they assert all the allegations “are so demonstrably and obviously false, or easily refuted …” I mean, true or not, most if not all of these allegations are not literally that. (Unless by “easily refuted” they mean “We say it’s not true.”)
Transcription of text in font sample: Man, I didn't learn anything in art school. Psych! I learned a ton: how to critique, how to be critiqued. How to be a litigator for decisions. How every choice should be justified, logical, and systematic. And then I learned sometimes to throw all that out the window. That’s what happened with Ohno Casual.
Browsing some fonts and just loved the content of this paragraph of sample text from OH No Type. ohnotype.co
So thankful to have gotten this from architecture school!
Of course!
It’s not like we have Jimmy Carter to talk us down anymore.
Oh wow — “Evening Magazine.” Haven’t heard that name in a while!
A bantha costume from Star Wars on display at Marine World Africa USA, custom-made for Mardji the elephant.
I am one of those Peninsula kids. Here’s an old Polaroid shot of the Star Wars bantha costume that was on display there for a time.
I have some cherished memories of Marine World/Africa U.S.A. in the ’70s — including many up-close animal experiences. It was a very fun place for a kid.
My dad worked at NASA Ames Research Center for 50+ years. There’s no question that Voyager and other missions were imprinted on my brain at an early age. I still think of those projects as products of incredible human dedication and innovation.
This looks great!
Like some in the replies, I am baffled by this — just because it’s so alien to my own Gen X experience. We did have Reagan in our formative years, but everyone and everything around me either mocked or hated him! (Popular music, SNL, etc.) I am more progressive than ever.
“artist” 🤔
“Running an … experiment” is giving him an awful lot of credit — but otherwise sure!
I was definitely one of those kids who had their mind bent by those Krofft television shows in the ’70s.
Erik pointing to a doorway with an address of “146”.
Erik van Blokland (and friends), giving me a micro-tour of Berlin, points to the former residence of Trixie… yes, THAT Trixie.
She is absolutely trying to knock the gesture here.
I am a window seat guy on airplanes. There’s nothing worse than that window that’s halfway between you and another row. Who is allowed to open or close it? Practically unknowable.
A small brown bunny, in profile, sitting on a green lawn.
If you’re a little stressed right now, please enjoy this picture I just took of a bunny eating grass on our front lawn. (We don’t ever see rabbits on our suburban property here.)
That Railway Development Society logo is really something.
Have to appreciate that when you visit the 7th Circuit website to look for recent opinions you are greeted with a vintage 1990s Geocities feel.
Really good stuff here, which unfortunately rings a bell. Read through for a new code word that my wife and I are sure to be invoking!
The recent, intermittent Bluesky outages are getting very annoying.
Two chocolate bunnies facing each other. On the left, the bunny with its tail bitten off says “My Butt Hurts!” On the right, the bunny with its ears bitten off says “What?”
Happy Easter.
Batman having a nightmare.
Comics Twitter in one panel.
A red-winged blackbird sitting in some foliage.
Took my camera out on today’s hike and got exactly one decent shot.
A graphic with a title at the top and a photo of a book below. The title reads, “Tristram Shandy / The First Modern Book”. The photo shows an interior spread of an old book. The text appears typical of 18th-century books until it gets to an illustration of squiggly lines on the lefthand page. On the right, another drawing of a wandering line is labeled with letters. The text describes the line as an illustration of a character’s travels.

A lot of the push for consumer-facing AI seems to be based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the creative process by people without a creative bone in their bodies.
