which was the plan all along for the class, but I don't often stick with the planned class project 😂! They're far from perfect, but I'm learning a lot. I've made 4 little cups so far and have just enough to make a 5th unless I decide to do something else with the last of the block.

I was so looking forward to this Nerikomi block, but then I had an issue while reducing the cane, and the block just didn't end up how I planned both in design and size. So I decided to use it to practice making things I need more practice with - tar paper cups (mini cups in this case)

This clay is definitely a bit more finicky because it's so old. And while I love bright colors, with this block, I almost wish these colors would stay the same. I'll post results once it's glaze fired, though it may take me a while to get it there 😂

I haven't been very good at taking photos of my in progress Nerikomi work lately, and the few photos I do have, I haven't gotten around to posting 😵‍💫 So here's one recent piece I made from a block I made recently using pretty old Bermuda & Lobster scrap clay.

I really loved making the glass plates, so I was excited to try the design in clay. I'm still not quite sure what I'm going to make with the block. And, here are photos of the finished glass plates I made that were my inspiration for the clay block.

to math. I've had a lot of ideas floating around in my head, but most recently, I've been thinking of trying something Fibonacci related. I had some old (and pretty dry) clay to play with and decided to make a Fibonacci fade mini block based on some glass plates I made a year or so ago.

As I have little to no formal art training, I knew pretty much nothing about art movements before starting my research. Surprisingly, I found myself drawn to Minimalism, Suprematism, and the Concrete Art Movement. I think I'm drawn to the simple lines and geometric shapes along with the connection

For the 3rd Quarter Project in the CRMX program I'm participating in through @the.ceramic.school, we are researching different art movements and creating work inspired by a movement (or combination of movements) of our choice.

My latest Nerikomi class project was to make a representational block & I chose to make a fish. I changed my mind a lot along the way but learned a lot. Now we rest & come back in 2 weeks to cut slices & make stuff.

It’s a month since the administration detained and disappeared a green card holder, a lawful permanent resident.

We cannot allow this to be normalized or forgotten.

Last Saturday, I took a local hummingbird needle felting workshop. I didn't quite finish during the alloted time, so I brought him home to finish him. He's far from perfect (and not exactly realistic), but I love him ❤️ More photos shots of him finished and in progress in the thread.

I took some photos of my recent Nerikomi projects this morning. Most are fully finished, but I'm including a few in progress photos, too. I also broke a couple of fully finished pieces 😩 I was bummed, but I figure it's a reason to try Kintsugi. Enjoy this thread of Nerikomi photos!

Since it's been a while since I've posted any of my art/creative work, here is a thread with some of my favorite recent fused glass work! I'll try to share some recent Nerikomi work soon, too (though most of it is still in process because my thumb stalled my progress).
