My latest Nerikomi class project was to make a representational block & I chose to make a fish. I changed my mind a lot along the way but learned a lot. Now we rest & come back in 2 weeks to cut slices & make stuff.

Vase is still greenware but the shape is complete. It's about 28cm tall and has been dry sanded and burnished. Ready for bisque firing.
Part way built showing a partial vase that is about 21cm tall, 10cm at the base slanting out to about 15cm at the top. The color veins of yellow, white, blue, red, and grey.
After pushing all the colors together, the clay was thrown out to a sheet, cut, piled up and thrown out again. Result is all the colors in thin veins thru the clay.

Took all my leftover clay from 2 semesters, ripped it up, and made a big "starry night" block. Cut 12mm thick slices and built up this form. Vase is leather hard greenware and has been dry sanded and burnished. #ceramics #pottery #nerikomi

Little bottle made of brightly colored porcelain that’s been swirled together. Round bottle with narrow neck, about 3 inches tall overall. Several shades of blue from bright azure to sky blue, yellow, dark blue green, and a tiny spot of orange.
Choose 20 pots or ceramic pieces that you have made. One pot per day for 20 days, in no particular order. Day sixteen.
