Lakeside: Castle Howard in Yorkshire — Mark Hillyer An evening family walk around the lakeside at Castle Howard in Yorkshire, Photographed on a Ricoh GR IV

I've been updating my site a bit and started to add just a few posts with everyday stuff that I've been photographing, while I make plans for project work.

My grandparents had a Marina. It was that delightful ‘70’s dark brown :-)

You’re going to have to look that one up before it drives you mad!!

Doing a bit more clearance at my mums house, I found a box of old stuff in the loft, which included a photo of my mum that I’d never seen before, and a book of state of the art (c1977/78) cars. Treasure from 6 year old me and for 56 yr old me.

March has been a really busy month, workwise. I’ve not had a lot of chance to make much project work, but carrying a camera everywhere has allowed me to get the occasional little bits…

A few images from around Leeds as I’ve been doing stuff. Carrying a small compact camera everywhere isn’t something I’ve done for quite a while - getting back into it again now though

One of my Bonsai trees seems pretty sure that it isn’t fake Spring and it’s the real deal.

I was doing a bit of work in Newcastle this week. On the quayside there’s a lovely cat cafe. I photographed this handsome dude in the window, eyeing up the pigeons. Have a good Caturday people.

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a Ricoh GRIV as an every day carry camera.
I don’t think a camera has ever surpassed my expectations more!!
These are just some low res jpeg transfers to my phone from a work overnight in Newcastle. #photography. #ricohgr4 #newcastle

Hole in a fence. There’s not a lot more to say about it really, other than I think what drew me to it was the structured lines of the building against the chaotic lines of the hole torn in the wire fence. #leeds #documentary #photography

A bit more work featuring Tunstall beach on the Yorkshire Coast, as the Royal Observation Corps nuclear monitoring bunker, built in 1951, makes its final journey due to coastal erosion.
There’s more ROC Tunstall work on my website (link in bio).

Tunstall ROC bunker fell into the sea last week. It was 100m inland when it was built in 1951. Parts of the Yorkshire coast are eroding at nearly 2m a year.

Finally starting to get on top of the work pile and the life issues that have been swallowing my time up for the last few months and getting back to some project work.
Tunstall, on the Yorkshire coast is a perfect example of a settlement that’s struggling against the erosion of the coastline.

The Last days of Tunstall ROC Bunker — Mark Hillyer Images from my documentary photography project to show the scope of coastal erosion on the Yorkshire Coastline: When Tunstall ROC was built, it was 90-100m back from the cliff top, safe from erosion. ...

A little bit more from my Yorkshire Coastal project, please feel free to take a look - comments welcome (mostly).

A bit of project work today. It was good to get out of the house and put the last month into perspective after mums funeral yesterday.
