16. Whisper of the Heart (1995)
dir. Yoshifumi Kondo
2nd Studio Ghibli film in IMAX this year. Like Kiki's, I've caught this in theaters before and it's an excellent experience

11:55, almost midnight. One more story before 12:00, just to keep us warm. In five minutes, it will be the 21st of April....and The Fog day! Someday we'll figure out what a stomach pounder is!

15. Ghost Elephants (2025)
dir. Werner Herzog
And now for more Herzog π€

14. Pizza Movie (2026)

Ehh it's 4/20. Why not watch a new stoner buddy comedy?

Always down for Australian horror

12. Dark Star (1974)
dir. John Carpenter
I've been holding off to watch this on a rainy day...and that's today. Last time I watched it I could barely get out of bed due to Covid, so this rewatch will 100% be an improvement

Between wrapping up Pokemon FireRed and starting the new Tomodachi Life, I've really been slacking on my movie watching. On the other hand, I've already been to the theaters 15 times this year. At least I'm making the most of my AMC A-List?
11. Demonoid (1981)
dir. Alfredo ZacarΓas
Just from the first 30 seconds, I can tell this is the kind of 80s trash I enjoy. Especially coming from the director of The Bees

10. Voodoo Man (1954)
dir. William Beaudine
Catching up on my Tubi list on my day off. I saw Bela Lugosi, I clicked

8-9. The Drama (2026)
dir. Kristoffer Borgli
&
Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010)
dir. Werner Herzog
First theater double-feature of the year. Strange combination of films, but I've been on a Herzog kick lately and I need something to beat the heat today

Inject the G-Cells straight into me. I'll be sat for Goji in IMAX again
Been a weird night for me, but at least I got some new @deafcrocodile.bsky.social films. Looking forward to checking them all out as always
7. Love Letter (1953)
dir. Kinuyo Tanaka
I've seen actor-turned-director Kinuyo Tanaka in a few films and had never realized she had six films from the director's seat as well. From Criterion's intro vid on her, it looks like I'll enjoy her work immensely

Back to my Tales From the Crypt viewing while I ride the stationary. Seems to be a yearly occurrence at this point π
6. How to Make a Monster (1958)
dir. Herbert L. Strock
Higher rated that Strock's 'Blood of Dracula', though I'm not sure that's inspiring at all

Exit 8 was far better than I assumed it would be, and threading that needle between straight game adaptation and providing a trickle of plot was incredibly risky but somehow worked. Definitely a must-see for horror and liminal space fans before The Backrooms comes out
5. Exit 8 (2025)
dir. Genki Kawamura
13th movie in theaters for the year already. This is apparently the year of liminal spaces and game adaptations

Share an iconic horror film shot
Definitely sums up my week so far

4. Shrek (2001)
dirs. Andrew Adamson & Vicky Jenson
Fitting that this will be my 100th movie watched for the year. I haven't watched this since I saw Smash Mouth live a number of years back, where we watched Shrek in preparation for it π

'Nighty Night' will sit perfectly next to 'Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell' when it comes to independent Japanese horror
It's unfortunate that the masters of this are seemingly lost. But! The quality definitely adds to the dark and grimy feel of the film. The 30min doc with director Kokusho was superb in getting a better idea of his thoughts while filming, and the haunting soundtrack is a 45min extra as well
3. Nighty Night (1986)
dir. Hirohisa Kokusho
J-Horror anthology films are always interesting. I know nothing about this one, so hopefully it's fun?

This was like striking gold at the Little Free Library near my work. Was just thinking about watching Shrek again a few weeks ago and this manifested itself

Since it's an (un)holy day, figured I'd slap on Ghost's 'Opus Eponymous'. You can even see JC (John Carpenter) himself if you look hard enough. First ever record I bought before I even had a player

Share a GIF from a HORROR movie you love!
Following up with the soundtrack that I totally didn't forget I owned until now. Extremely haunting and definitely overshadowed in the film
From @waxworkrecords.bsky.social as a part of their yearly subscription a few years back
Love that my theater puts the re-releases of the Studio Ghibli films out, but I'd kill (haha) to get this as well. The same happened last year with Angel's Egg and Perfect Blue
Isn't Easter just the OG zombie story?
2. Alice, Sweet Alice (1976)
dir. Alfred Sole
Considered a proto-slasher, and a grumpy one at that, I'm sure for the religious folks this one struck quite the chord. I love it and personally try to watch it as close to Easter as possible π
