It is entirely Pixar's fault that I find myself unable to throw away lamps.

There's something ironic about me choosing to reward myself for releasing @wefixspacejunk.bsky.social Season Four, which was written during a horrendous period of writers block, by playing Alan Wake.

UK energy prices are soaring – and propagandists want to sell you a false reason why | George Monbiot The war on Iran has put fossil-fuel prices centre stage, but don’t believe those who tout ‘maximising the North Sea’ as our salvation, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

If it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between fossil-fuel lobbyists and the billionaire press, that's because there isn’t one.
My column on the politicians, journalists and junktanks using the Iran crisis as an excuse to extract our remaining gas and oil.

“Why do you want to shit on entire swathes of human endeavor and wreck the planet while you’re doing it? Why are you so determined to be awful and amoral? Everything about your priorities is messed up, and you should all be heartily ashamed, abashed and embarrassed.”

Yeah but then they'd have to go near Linehan and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

There are pieces of writing that stand on their own without any external information, but there's a reason when we read poetry, for example, we want to know when it was written and by whom? Where was it written? What were the circumstances of their life at time? And their country or city?

It's GREAT that because I've finally hit a minimum threshold for self-employed earnings I've got to pay next year's taxes too. Just dandy. It's not like my money is tight because I'm self-employed or anything.

How Hookland Works …

Almost everything online and detailed in the Hookland Writer’s Bible and the Hookland Guide publications is available for your free use. You want to use a picture for an album cover, a C.L. Nolan quote for an epigraph or even borrow a village or town for a story – fill your boots. As long as you give due credit to Hookland and in cases where the Hookland material is not created by me, the original creator, the copyright police will never pursue you. Not even if your story is a huge commercial success or your album sells more copies than you can dream about. There’s no charge. You own whatever you do with Hookland. It is a creative playground, a pre-enchanted landscape for anyone to use.

You will only ever come a cropper with the copyright police if you use elements of Hookland and don’t give due credit. Everyone who loves and uses Hookland owns everything in the county canon. By not crediting that fact, you are extracting the urine and disregarding a whole community of people.

There are two other things to note:

Firstly, none of the above applies if you are creating work promoting racism, vile misogyny or homophobia of any sort. You can whimper about creative censorship, but I come from a long line that stands against the promulgation of hatred. You’ll find nothing but bitter curses and refusal in Hookland. Nastiness and nascent-Nazism has consequences, even in fictional realms.

Secondly, Hookland is not for the use in works using AI. When it comes to Hookland, AI as it currently stands usually means Arseholes Involved. It’s a thieving, hollowing and unethical beast of a thing. It has no place in a principled, decent society outside medical and scientific research. It has no place in Hookland and never will. Try to mix AI slop and Hookland and I promise you will be haunted.

I will always support and try to help/answer any questions for anyone wanting to use Hookland creatively. It is there to be explored, it is there to be played with.

To the establishment the tragedy seems to be that a mother lost her child far far more than a trans girl lost her life and everything that’s followed has been about suring up the ownership and control parents have over their children

The biggest “block” writers face is time and money and gatekeeping (by the people who can offer money to give you that time.)

I would welcome a day that I didn’t wake up with fourteen great ideas that I simply don’t have the time or money to do properly. AI directly threatens that. It doesn’t help.

Yeah, I don't think I've watched it in a good twenty years but I made so many k'nex robot babies as a kid.

(I don't think it makes the game bad, just not suitable for me in particular!)

Onstage at the Brixton O2 - Coheed and Cambria play in front of a gigantic inflatable skeleton biker (head and shoulders). He's wearing LED goggles, a spiked leather jacket and a spiked, open-faced bike helmet. I'd guess he's about the height of a double decker bus.

There aren't enough giant inflatables at gigs any more.

Just realised the reason I couldn't play Horizon Zero Dawn (I tried!) was that I watched Batteries Not Included about a hundred times as a kid. The majority of non-humanoid robots are friend-shaped to me.

(I also didn't see ET until adulthood)

One day I will have one of these in my actual home, but for now I'm going to have to content myself with telling people that they're incredible and that you should treat yourself.
