As of today, we can confirm that we will be rescheduling all October and November grant application submission deadlines (specific dates to be announced in a future Notice). By delaying due dates that occurred both during the lapse in funding and in the week following, applicants will have access to NIH staff and the help desks as they develop their applications.

Peer review meetings that were scheduled to take place between October 1 and November 14 have been cancelled and will be rescheduled, details to come. Additionally, council meetings that were scheduled to take place between October 1 and November 14 were cancelled and will be rescheduled, details to come.

I know & trust that NIH staff will get this round of reviews done. Yet having done my own CSR reviews 'for nothing' & with my own R01 sitting unreviewed now, working on another NIH grant has never felt so painful and futile. A quiet impact on science, perhaps, robbing the joy from looking ahead.

Democracy in action, Illinois.

Proud of our state for peacefully showing up and speaking out together in one voice to fight back against Donald Trump’s takeover of our democracy.

Meanwhile, when the dean utters his refrain, “Thank you for all your hard work,” the faculty will simply hear, “Sorry, we have no money to pay you.”

RFK Jr. and Trump tell us they want to Make America Healthy Again.

Great slogan. I agree. Unfortunately, they are doing the exact opposite.

Vaccines work. They are safe. They save lives.

No more conspiracy theories.  Kennedy must resign.

I was also fortunate to have one of my proposed sessions take place on the latest in hormone-dependent cancers, which featured a fantastic story from Dan Frigo on metabolism in prostate cancer.

We did a thing w @jostrander.bsky.social!
Over the last few years, we took a new direction into #lobular breast cancer oncogenesis. We know loss of the gene CDH1 (E-cadherin) is central to ILC, and is among its earliest oncogenic events. But why? How does this push normal breast toward cancer? 1/n
