This is a gif, but I'm not sure if it plays to others as one or if bluesky is weird about those. It displayed it as one when I selected it, but it's not post-posting for me now :(

It's really scary to see so much rampant hate through politics go through at once; it's so much more scary to see that hate get more support than I would have expected from the working class towards eachother.
We need to take care of each other and hold out hope. Don't let hate become the norm.
Four Wild burros, one to the left sitting in the shade, three standing to the right next to a tree
Had the honor of seeing some wild burros when I was in Las Vegas near the Calico Basin area this past October. I can only hope that they've been doing well over the winter π
Reminder to myself to not make posts before I have coffee, I really didn't notice I said Dingle Digit
Mossy towering trees with a bit of sun peaking through the dense foliage.
Thinking about times that were a bit more warm in the Hoh Rainforest, while I get ready to drive to work in dingle digit weather.
Oligarchy (noun): A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.
The main point I'm making here is the importance of having that information public, regardless as to how the institutions get funding to accomplish such, so that our society as a whole has access to be well informed, even if they come from economic hardship.
A lot of people in this thread are missing my point, NPR works to make sure the public has access to the information they provide regardless of indivisuals ability to pay. Sponsors, grants, As well as donors, Make it so the public can have that access to important information despite wage gaps
My earbud didn't charge when I was on my break and sewing in silence is killing me right now. Please send me best regards to get through the last bit of my shift
This would sound like a dream come true, I feel like pay would depend wildly on the expectations of the art/ time expected it to be complete.
Sketches, realism, cartoons, colored/shaded, etc. Often change how much a given artist would charge, many will be saying they'd "do it for the zine"
Everything has contradictions, I know a lot of media outlets, including, say, NPR have all basic news as a free service but offer extra w paid support. (Like more game shows, merch, physical media, etc) so that the information important is free, while they can still raise funds for employees.
- an informed public betters society and News should not be pay walled. That creates a class system where the poor don't get to partake in due government processes (such as knowing how to go about properly voting, how their tax dollars are being spent, etc)
This is different from say, hobby info.
I think depending on the information the point is, it can be dangerous for people to not have access to it. People have a RIGHT to know what's going on with local politics, climate, etc. Because it's actively impacting their life. Education is vital for a healthy society.
Entertainment is leisure-
First tablet sketch of my cat Kenny I did to play with digital art for the first time!! Parts are really messy but I had places to be and this was more of a test.
I posted this on John Scalzi's feed earlier so I should post it here as well. My last book, "The Field Herping Guide: Finding Amphibians and Reptiles in the Wild" was published in 2019 (you can skip the Bazillionaire middle man and order directly from the press) ugapress.org/book/9780820... #books
Three people by the shoree on some rocks, left one smiling Mid laugh, middle trying to climb up onto the rocks to get settled, right one looking down at left one.
Of course I love nature but I also love rhe people I get to share it with. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to catch them genuinely in the moment mid conversation. This is one of my favorites because it feels so real. #Photography
I think it's easier to customize your feed/what you see here at least. They have "starter packs" of various fields of people to follow or to mass block that helped me a lot
Who knew Mammoth Cave would also have great above ground hiking? Looking back at how great of a trip I had there last fall and I can NOT believe they were voted 'most disappointing attraction"
I was in fact not disappointed, if anything it surpassed my expectations.
#photogrpahy #hiking
It was so hard to not buy the entire sites catalog, (but got a whole cart)
absolutely amazing work!!
I was looking at the ground at a lizard just to look up and see I was being watched. #bugs #Photography
Taken at Red Rocks, CO on a trail to kill some time before a show this past August
This should go without saying, but everything I post is my own work. Proper credits are essential, and I will never use AI.
I'm hoping to keep my feed AI free and will block sources found to be using other people's work without credit π₯°π
Chipmunk on a branch, with hands together looking straight forward
