I usually just scroll past content I don’t care about. However, I just can’t this time. You know that woman on the receiving end of the John Cena prank call? I approaching that level of annoyance.

Wit, unker, git: The lost medieval pronouns of English intimacy Tales of love and adventure from 1,000 years ago reveal a dazzling range of now-extinct English pronouns. They capture something unique about how people once thought about "two-ness".

I fell asleep on the front nine. (Since my mom’s passing, my sleep schedule is all out of whack.) Looks like he steadied the ship on the back nine, except for that errant tee shot on 18.

The Skids helped me cope with life overseas.
Big Country’s later discography woefully flew under the radar. The Buffalo Skinners? “I don’t have the time that I used to.” 😢

I’m glad someone else has taken over the NTBTS screenshots! I started the one on Tumblr about eight years ago. Happy to pass the torch. (I don’t have time now!)

"AI is garbage, bro, it gives you wrong answers like half the time and the other half the time makes you stupid."

Overheard a middle schooler chastising a fellow student for suggesting they use AI. Whole middle school herd started mocking the AI kid.

...We need to let these kids at the tech bros.

Great thread.
During my bartending days, we always ordered Clamato for Masters Week. Why? So many Canadians stayed at the hotel, and we would make so many Caesars.

My mother used to say, “You are giving me agita” and I always thought that word was made-up. Linguistics helped me understand the etymology.

I seriously think this is one of the biggest disconnects. LLMs constantly and confidently produce misinformation, and it requires enormous amounts of vigilance to work with them under high standards of rigor. If people don't care about facts or rigor, of course they'll think this is miracle tech.
