Late compared to some but I was pleased to see my first Yellow Wagtails of the year at North Cave Wetlands. The White Wagtail shown was unusual looking to me.

Agree and proximity doesn’t have to be close does it?
Well done Rich - lovely find
Plenty of butterflies around on this beautiful day - first Holly Blue of the year was in my garden. Willerby, East Yorkshire
Snow Bunting - Cairngorm, one of about 20 birds in the car park.
After hearing so many over the garden last night, it wasn’t a huge surprise to see a Common Scoter today at North Cave Wetlands, East Yorkshire.
Common Scoter - several flocks over Willerby East Yorkshire tonight
I’m glad you said you’ve not seen it Mick, I know I haven’t - I expected someone to say they do it all the time, you just haven’t been looking.
Maybe Cetti’s Warblers always display like this - but I cannot recall seeing one display like this before.
SLF - magnificent as always in Leeds last night
I got 403 forbidden
Info now received. Originally ringed in The Netherlands, it has been recorded in Germany, Poland and Lithuania.
We had the earliest ever at North Cave Wetlands, East Yorkshire today too.
Little Ringed Plover - terrible photo but it was great to see the first of the year at NCW, it is also our earliest ever record by some margin.
Beautiful Yellowhammer in morning sunshine - North Cave Wetlands, East Yorkshire 25/2/26
I was pleased to see the first Mediterranean Gull of the year at North Cave Wetlands today.
Thanks- I have done but didn’t find a scheme. Hopefully they will come back to me.
After a few sightings of small numbers of White-fronted Geese, it was good to really get in on the invasion today with 5 over then 116 down on North Cave Wetlands today. Any info on ringed bird appreciated
A deceased Puffin lies on its back on the ground. Wording above reads: Please report sightings of all dead birds. A graphic showing an exclamation mark in a triangle features.
⚠️ We've had reports of seabirds washing up. Please report ALL species of dead birds ⬇️

Steve Holiday has a huge repository of old reports John. Not sure what access is available. Sadly, I think our notebooks will be recycled!
@mrjamesob.bsky.social Bedford CC dealing with the bigots like an absolute boss.
Nice one Stuart
And presumably the Common Shelduck it is with was also ringed by you
Many thanks
And just to be clear, if this nightmare scenario unfolded, it would not be the racist Reform government’s money - it would be ours.
Would love a Malduck at NCW
Any views on this Shelduck hybrid appreciated. Seen at North Cave Wetlands 7/2/26. Only noticed later that both it and the Common Shelduck were ringed.
Smew, these 4 birds, 2 drakes, and 2 red-heads, constitutes the largest flock ever recorded at North Cave Wetlands.
It is almost 30 years since the last and only previous male was recorded on the reserve when it was present with 2 red-heads from 18/2/1996 to 25/2/1996 @northcavewet.bsky.social
And two more today at NCW - along with 2 redheads.
Two drake Smew at Tophill Low Nature 22/1/26 - one looks pristine, the other showing darker flanks.
