Thankfully, yes, we had the same thoughts. All-caps and underlined text are generally best avoided for readability.

I’m genuinely impressed it still exists. Was doing very specific deep searches recently and getting very varied results between Google, Ecosia and Bing. Would you recommend adding DuckDuckGo into my mix???

We find the "boiling frog" equivalent of AI use. Using large-scale RCTs, we provide *casual* evidence that AI assistance reduces persistence and hurts independent performance.

And these effects emerge after just 10–15 minutes of AI use!

A great example of antibiotic stewardship in practice #AMR

Great blog, highly relevant for inclusive teaching too. With new cohorts I write down names phonetically and try to use students’ names out loud at least three times- it helps me commit to memory.

Two things
1) antimicrobial stewardship
2) chronic UTIs could be a sign of bacterial vaginosis which is now considered an STI

Interesting times ahead for the AMR, AMS, and AMU researchers!

I've been collaborating with an amazing artist who was already familiar with your visual narrative work, so the project turned out to be a great exercise in cross-discipline communication. It has been great to really think about how complex science can be scaffolded with a research‑informed approach to designing comics that feel intuitive, promotes comprehension, supports memory, and encourages reflective, critical engagement. amrgraphicnovels.blogs.lincoln.ac.uk/2026/03/12/a...

These are educational levers like social relevance, negativity (i.e. what happens if the opposite happens), and counterintuitive elements, all well described by @jordancollver.bsky.social livrepository.liverpool.ac.uk/3194747/

Learning more about visual narrative grammar, we also became much more deliberate about the educational levers built into the AMR graphic novel. Readers need intrigue, cognitive scaffolding, and moments that stick. Visual setups that invite a question, pacing that nudges anticipation.

A real turning point was encountering work from @neilcohn.bsky.social which gave a language for something I’d been intuitively sensing but couldn’t articulate. Panels function like grammatical units in a sentence, which influenced how I looked at comics and how we designed the AMR graphic novel

The graphic novel project has been a great chance to contemplate scientific sequencing (sketching flow charts, mapping mechanisms, arranging ideas step‑by‑step) complements how readers parse image sequences using similar patterns #SciComm #MicrobiologyEducation #SciArt #ScienceComic #VisualSciComm
