#TombTuesday 💀 The massive limestone megaliths of the Lligwy Neolithic burial chamber survive in pasture on eastern Ynys Môn/Anglesey.
Beneath the vast capstone is a low chamber complete with natural shelves where offerings may be placed

It was fantastic to attend the opening last night to see the new Trysor exhibition of recent archaeological treasures on Anglesey at Oriel Môn. They have also revamped the history gallery with new displays of prehistoric artefacts. www.orielmon.org/en/exhibitio...

It is a parabolic curve, which is able to support itself without internal supports or buttresses. It is made of reinforced concrete.

It's lovely, but unfortunately closed at the moment as there is a lot of water ingress around the bands of lights in the ceiling.
I've been researching the very interesting life of the architect, Giuseppe Rinvolucri, and will have a paper on him in the next Anglesey Antiquarian Society Transactions. I've also done a DWB entry for him: biography.wales/article/s15-...

I'll be giving a talk about the Lighthouses of Wales at Pentraeth Memorial Hall next week (17 March, 2pm); all welcome!
Ink and paint picture of one side of a yellowy-brown stone box, standing on a plinth of there square-fronted stones, on a stone floor. The box has a central carved cross, within a ring, which is set above two semi-circles. Around the outside are several borders, of which the outermost have barley-sugar twists and the top has a zig-sag decoration.
