Oh yeah, I can imagine the difficulty! Not always feasible.

I actually didn’t know you were “allowed” to comment on the reviews… Sounds like a lot of extra work, but it would definitely be appreciated ❤️
Yes! I think if editors did this more often, it would be amazing!
Do you think it would help if editors stepped in and when sending reviewers comments would write: “Point 3,5 and 8 do not need to be addressed because they are a matter of the reviewer’s personal opinion”. As a “young” PI, I always feel that I must respond to everything, even if it’s ridiculous.
I LOVE IT!!! Amazing activity and flyers/zines!
What Zahra said already. I only do it if I aim at a high impact journal and I know that it will take a long time to get through review. Also, once it’s archived, it exists for the funding agencies and CV purposes.
I'm back home with my dad and have thoughts about being an Indigenous scientist and academic. I'm writing this in real time so it might get disrupted and will have typos.
I am fairly successful by academic standards. I have a tenure track job, wrote papers, have grant funding, mentor students.
@vidhikadamani.bsky.social painted the most beautiful image for our perspective on stimuli-responsive conductive polymers in @pubs.acs.org Chemistry of Materials for their Up-and-Coming series and it made the journal cover!

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands.
Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵
The 2016 Nobel prize in chemistry was awarded 'for the design and synthesis of molecular machines'. Ironically, we do not know exactly what constitutes a molecular machine. With the ultimate goal of unifying definitions and standardising terminology, Iupac needs your help!

@vidhikadamani.bsky.social and I wrote a Perspective on ‘Stimuli-Responsive Conductive Polymers for Bioelectronics’ now published in Chemistry of Materials @pubs.acs.org. We hope you will enjoy it! pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10....
Very scary! I was so relieved to hear they were okay!
They were very quick at thoroughly rinsing the puncture point with water and calling 911 (finger started swelling). The student was released from the hospital and his finger seems safe thanks to their awareness of the potential danger and quick response. [2/2] #ChemSafety
I want to thank @sebvidalchem.bsky.social for his article on safety related to a dichloromethane injection injury! We discussed this article a few months ago and had a similar incident today with DMF. The student was therefore aware of the potential risk. [1/2] pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
Picture of snowdrops flowers in a bed of leaves
I saw perce-neige (snowdrops?) on my walk today (DE). We have them in Europe too, so I am guessing they are not native, are they?
There has been a lot of chatter today about Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump, some regarding this moment when White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked if the Ukrainian president plans to wear a suit. I want to address idea in this thread. 🧵
Reupping this short, 4-post 🧵 about the American "scientific pipeline", so we all understand the long-term economic impact of shutting it off
#SciComm folks are great at popularizing individual fields, but the overall system of funding scientific discovery needs similarly terse explainers
Valentine’s day card saying will you be the Pedot to my PSS. Showing the logo of the Kayser Lab (Pedot guy) and the chemical structure of PEDOT:PSS
My lab made a (much needed) cute card. Will you be the PEDOT to my PSS?

We need to push back on the loss of information and the disappearance of websites about these resources.

"[My adviser] told me that instead of focusing on finding a dream job, I should think about what I am good at and what makes me happy at least 80% of the time. This advice surprised me at first, but it ended up being exactly what I needed to hear." scim.ag/3DHtLCc

Happy New Year! I am starting 2025 fresh by unsubscribing from all the email lists I didn’t actually want to subscribe to. Feels great/weird to get almost no emails each day.
NB: Please do not use this post as a hint to send me requests 😘
Maybe they are still considering you 😅
Congratulations to Darrin on being elected an NAI fellow @nationalacademies.org !!! #Bundlemers #Polymers
