Honestly…

I know I could just not go to conferences, but I don’t think I should be penalised for not currently having institutional backing…
Early bird rates for conferences piss me off! I’m clearly not in a position to pay just now, or I would, so why should I be penalised by having to pay a higher price later, which I’ll also struggle to pay?
I’ve just replied to your email! ☺️
A reminder that this is happening on Friday! Please do get in touch with either myself or @aayushigupta.bsky.social if you want the Zoom link!
They’ve also currently got the line-up of the year for their November tour!
Yeah, fuck it, I know it’s only April, but I’m calling it: this new Enter Shikari album is the album of the year!
Wicker sculpture of a unicorn. It is standing on its hind legs with its head and horn pointed to the cloudy sky above.
It’s #NationalUnicornDay, so here is one from my trip to the Helix the other day! 🏴🦄
Are you a @socialhistsoc.bsky.social PGR member? Do you want to share your work? Or an idea that you’re working through? And want some feedback from a friendly bunch? Then please come join myself and @aayushigupta.bsky.social for our new work in progress sessions!
First one is 17th April at 4pm!
Thank you for posting about this!! You’ve saved me the effort of coming up with a succinct enough post about it myself 😅😅
Two giant silver horse head sculptures sitting in front of a turning pool filled with water, which you can see their reflections and the blue sky reflected in.
Two giant silver metal horse head sculptures against a lovely blue sky. There is a pool of water in front of them. And some rather brown/muddy looking grass in the foreground.
Focus is on a white hand holding an ice cream with a flake in it. The background is not in focus but you can see the two giant horse head sculptures and the blue sky.
Pool of water with three ducks and a swan in. There are lots of reeds to the left hand side of the photo and the sky above is blue in the distance with lots of clouds in the foreground
I guess the main perk of not having any paid employment atm is that I can take my nephew to the Kelpies and have ice cream on a sunny day!
Likewise!! I do need to start actually making an effort to be more active here tbh… 😅
The whole event is going to be excellent, so I’d recommend booking a ticket and joining in with the fun!
Myself and @disabledarchaeo.bsky.social have a stall at the event where you can come and find out all about what @ukdishisthub.bsky.social does! Or just come say hi if you already know us!
Same!!
Excited to be contributing to this with my @ukdishisthub.bsky.social hat on! Also just generally excited to be attending!

Just spent a wonderful couple of hours with one of my participants, hearing about her life in West Brom in the 1960s. I am still recruiting, so if you or anyone you know fits the bill and is interested, please get in touch #1960s #womenshistory #workingclasshistory #twentiethcenturyhistory
Having carefully set up an out of office and forward for my Leeds email account, it looks as if the University has simply shut it down. Can friends and followers please get the word out that I am still contactable for history-related messages and queries at jessicameyer1 @ gmail.com. Thank you!
Wonderful papers by Margarida Portelo @louisebell.bsky.social and @cormac-keenan.bsky.social in our first panel #milwelfhist
Really enjoyed getting to present at the @milwelfhist.bsky.social virtual symposium this morning, looking at some of the more “fun” aspects of my PhD thesis (we all know I love getting to talk about the artificial limbs themselves!) #DisHist #ww1 #ww2
I’m desperate to go and see it!
Black T-shirt with yellow text at the top saying Independent Venue Week 2026. In smaller text below, in white, are names of venues all across the UK.
Standing at the back of a room looking at the stage where a person with pink hair is performing. The real focus is a tv screen hanging from the ceiling which has the white Independent Venue Week logo against a black background displayed on it.
Did some volunteering for #IVW26 last night! If you know me at all, then you know music and going to gigs is a huge part of my life, so it was nice to get to play a small part in celebrating independent venues.
I think this might have been the first time I’ve ever attended something at Celtic Connections?! But I really enjoyed getting to spend 1+ hours listening to some wonderful music at the Danny Kyle Open Stage yesterday! #CCFest26
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was definitely worth taking a break to go see!
