Firstborn enjoyed the trip to some mud on the top of a hill in the drizzle this afternoon. The Shorelark (Horned Lark) at Mow Cop in Cheshire is a fine looking thing.

Welcome to Friday's Breakfast on BBCRadio3. I love this album cover - part of a huge project to record all 107 of Haydn's symphonies and just a taste from it coming later. And this morning's dawn chorus was a GΓΌldenstΓ€dt's Redstart. All is good!

My last view of staring into this for a week. Friday's Breakfast on bbcradio3 is up & running. In Bach Before 7 it's the battle between the Greek gods Phoebus and Pan, there's Sibelius's Violin Concerto and just before 9 a great new live recording of Beethoven's Emperor Concerto.
