Happy Gory 40
The EXIT 8 movie is in US theaters for the next week. It's a fucking brilliant adaptation of the game while also being a surprisingly strong & engaging psychological horror story. GO SEE IT.

RIP Shozin Fukui.
Crazy ideas, singular vision, made probably two of the most memorable films in a movement overflowing with unforgettable images. Thank you for making me laugh while trying to hold back bile. Fanart from 2020.
You do great work.
To quote Chris Gethard, one of the most radical things you can do in this environment is survive, & refuse to disappear.
Couple more shots of Pinocchio clippings
Hereβs some shots I took of the various media clippings they had posted up for the Pinocchio show.
Pouring one out for Shozin Fukui
So sad to hear about the death of Japanese experimental filmmaker Shozin Fukui on April 2nd. We visited his wife just a couple of weeks ago at their bar in Higashi-Nakano and learned he wasnβt doing so well. He died just as the world was releasing and recognising his contribution to cinema.
Shozin Fukui talking about how the neighborhood near where they were shooting Pinocchio had become mad all from all the noise and smoke bombs they were lighting off for the film. So he and the crew went door to door and gave each house a box of sweets, and begged them to let them continue shooting the film. They finally got permission, and as the weather got very cold the people from the neighborhood even began bringing the crew warm soup.
Man, Shozin Fukui who made 964 Pinocchio and Rubber's Lover died
I had the insane luck to see him at an airing of 964 Pinocchio last year where he custom mixed the experience. It was the most intense loudest thing I think my body ever experienced.
Incredibly cool and nice guy, I'll never forget him

Just watched Wizards again over the weekend for the first time in awhile, with director's commentary on this time. A friend had never seen any movie before with directory's commentary on, and I knew you'd be a solid choice.
