2025 wasn't great - I'd moved into my house at the end of 2024, so I focussed on settling. And I can't help but feel constantly unsettled.
UK’s Online Safety Act is a load of shite the way it’s been implemented with no properly regulatory oversight or standards on user data. Already paid Bumble — Who in their right mind wants to send their passport / ID to some garbage American company? I mean that all sounds totally safe doesn’t it?
I have little faith any of these plans will save the money they say it will, or even that it will help any. But the constant focus on £££ is just unhelpful when so much is broken to support people actually getting work and support.
Tinkering around the edges is a good way of looking at it.
Like many I’ve had worry & sleepless nights over the #WelfareReforms announced by the DWP, in particular w/ #PIP.
In reality the changes are less extreme than we were led to believe. In the aftermath there is hysteria from the likes of Scope, DPOs and charities that are incredibly damaging.
This government is disgusting. We’ve had 15 years of austerity and now they are coming for the disabled because there’s nothing left to cut.
Oh I love those ones. They probably claim that going on LinkedIn during their work hours to shitpost is legitimate work, as well.

New CPU, new fans.
I set up a local admin account but they need the password - not pin - to get in. To install software for the fans apparently. Guess they really want me to have the RGB.
A bit buggered because I’m not even sure what it is. let’s see what happens.

You can almost guarantee, when somebody posts a job on #LinkedIn, there is always at least one moron that replies “Great opportunity”, as if it has any substance bringing the post into their feed.
Using Microsoft Edge and the MSN news portal frequently shows me a lot of hateful, vile articles from Birmingham Mail. They clearly don’t like people on PIP.

Considering myself relatively settled now in my new home, so on to dating apps I go… and it’s terribly depressing to be dating on the wrong side of 30.
The enclosure? It’s a dock that fits the base of the Mac Studio. Lots of knock off types flying around you can get them reasonably priced on Amazon
It’s either defective or my enclosure one is. I’ll need to test it on something else; but not in any rush. Bit annoying it’s money potentially wasted.
I’m glad I didn’t put it somewhere else in the end. And I’m avoiding using the garage until I can convert it.
Yeah. Ripped off the cupboard on the wall to make room for it. Haven’t missed having the cupboard so far; but putting a shelf in or two in to make up for it.
Bought a Satechi dock for my Mac Studio a year ago. Comes with a m2 ssd enclosure.
Bought ssd today, but it’s got a heatsink. Whoops. Should have returned it but in haste I removed the heatsink and connected it up.
Doesn’t work. Joy.
The decorating is still to be done (I need to order a couple of shelves), and get the fuse box looked at.

Had WWE Network since day 1. Cancelled before I get charged £10 for about 3 days content.
Probably could have saved money as I’ve barely watched it in the last couple years with moving house.

On Friday my Granddad of 91 passed away, a week after having a fall. He’d have been 92 on 15th December. I’d written a message for him on my Facebook, but I wanted to share here too how special he was to me, and to my family.

It always felt perverse & bizarre it became a thing. Old man, lapping on a zimmer to raise money for a publicly funded service.
Something that sucks: #AmazonPrime frequently doesn’t have #subtitles for odd episodes of #StarTrek yet #Netflix does. And I’ve bought every episode of Star Trek except DISC and S1 of TOS. #FML.
