I'm quite serious, there appears to be a call by the developer to help port this to the web: www.freelancer.com/projects/2d-...

Screen capture of the keyboard controls of Mathology (1993) as soon as you start the game. The key layout consists of "Shoot up-left or down-right is Insert, Shoot up or down is Home, Shoot up-right or down-right is Page Up, Shoot left is Delete, Duck (reverse weapon) is End, Shoot right is Page Down, Jump (Push space while walking), Flip left (arrow pointing counter clockwise left) is Alt, Flip right (arrow pointing clockwise right) is Ctrl, and Walk up down left or right." There are more pages of controls described since this is only p.1 and can be scrolled through with Page Up and Page Down. The Function Keys F1 to F5 are different weapons with 33 shots each. F6 is Help, F10 is Iris, F8 is magic, Esc is an option, Points is 0, Health is 400, Level is 1, Game Level is 1, and Lives is 8. There are an array of mysterious and different colourful icons. Text is an eye-searingly mishmash of colours like red on black and red on blue.
Lucien_Dark states: these are the worst controls known to mankind
I want to know if anyone has ever played/finished Mathology (1993) for DOS, and if they have, do they love it and if they do, can they help the developer please fix this interface.
A baited mimic! A unique type of mimic with bait to call for help or entice other predators within the dungeon. Can you see through the spell or are you an easy meal.

Most importantly, thanks to @clownscorp.bsky.social for his guidance on how to paint and not ruin his paintbrushes. ๐คก
A completed kit of the Paint 3D Enchanted Orchid, consisting of painted and assembled cardboard pieces of three yellowish orchids with pink features, four leaves, a stem and two roots, posed as a relief on a watercolour leaf background and a black cardboard frame. The pieces are barely holding together with little more than cardboard tabs and thoughts and prayers.
Craftuary wraps up with the (almost) completion of the finicky Paint-3D Enchanted Orchid paint-by-cryptic-code kit. A combined 14 hours of suffering through "trust the process," it very nearly holds together and I'm glad it's over!๐ญ Thanks for hanging out with me while I get through this time.โค๏ธ
A completed Lego orchids kit with six white and pink orchids in a Lego pot. This is sitting on a desk with lots of wires in the background.
Thanks to those of you stopping by my first stream of 2026 tonight, a first time live crafting of a LEGO orchids set I received from @clownscorp.bsky.social for xmas โค๏ธ For now, more crafting streams until I'm ready to do edu games again โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
Have a peaceful start to a new year 2026 โจ Thanks everyone who sent me kind words through this difficult time โค๏ธ I won't be streaming for a little while, as I'm still struggling with the loss of Captain. He was integral in my streams as well as in my life, and I'll need some time. ๐
A top down view of a brown tabby cat named Captain, the best boi, laying in one of his favourite boxes, a Pepsi not-a-box, next to the skirt of a Christmas tree and boxes. He is staring intently into the viewer's souls.
I'm gutted to share sad news that Captain went towards the rainbow bridge today. He was almost 16 years old and surrounded by love and compassion to the end. I just want everyone to know that he was the best boy and to look at him because he was the best. ๐
(FRIST was on purpose before you say anything)
In the last stream of the year yesterday, we experienced the frist instance of a retro de-educational game with Daffy Duck P.I.: The Case of the Missing Letters (1991) for DOS. Why the game denied us legitimate words remains a mystery...๐ญ www.twitch.tv/extrametrica...
It was in the middle while I waited for ads to pass - I attempted Bach's Gavotte en Rondeau, the struggle of which was thankfully muted ๐
I am truly grateful and touched by all your generosity and kindness from today's recital - thank you everyone, for your time and for being you! โค๏ธ The VOD is still up for your enjoyment (with a muted section that was not part of the planned recital so no worries in missing any FF)!
Screenshot of "The Amazon Trail (1993) DOS Edition". It is showing a page from the in-game reference book, of a Bushmaster and a diagram of a brown and orange snake. The text on the left says "Bushmaster Active: At night. Eats: Mostly small mammals; also birds and amphibians. Size: About as long as Shaquille O'Neal is tall." The closed caption under says "anybody know off the top of their head how tall Shaquille O'Neal is". The opposite page provides more facts about the bushmaster.
After playing Amazon Trail (1993) for DOS last night, and given we already play a whole bunch of other retro educational games, I think I should make a Hall of Fame for non-metric unit of measures.
Also, thanks to @j.holmes.codes for keeping me on track to learning BASIC ๐บ
That's awesome! I wish I had come across these as a kid, as I thought it was a neat way to learn to code. ๐บ
We tried a different kind of retro educational video game tonight with Micro Adventure No.1 Space Attack (1984), a game book for teens with printed BASIC code to type in and run in your home PC! This is the website to experience the fun for yourself: auri-microadventure.azurewebsites.net
24 hour Extra Life charity stream begins at 8pm EST! Also my farewell stream, as I will no longer be streaming after this.
Come say hi and bye!

Screenshot of Super Solvers: Challenge of the Ancient Empires (1990). The game screen shows an ancient Egyptian themed platforming scene with the player in a red hat, blue coat and red shoes carrying a backpack. There is a flying frog enemy in the middle of the screen. There are two glass triangular shapes on the left side, a yellow and purple diamond on the top left, and a red block on the right. The bottom of the game overlay shows the number of Artifact pieces collected, the current tool selected which is a pair of jet boots, the player's energy, the Egypt cavern and chamber II of IV. The closed caption from the stream says, "I don't want to look at it is it going to spit at me I bet you it will it's the last one".
Tonight, we played Super Solvers: Challenge of the Ancient Empires (1990) on DOS, which inserts superficial educational elements into a platformer. However, a player has to exercise planning, logic, and problem solving skills to pass each level, also important for any learner to practice!
Screen shot of Mario's TIme Machine (1993) for DOS, with the DOSember overlay on the right side of the image. The scene is a Victorian English styled office where Charles DIckens is sitting in a chair near his bookshelf, with a writing desk on the right facing large windows. The game caption below the scene says "Yes! My inkwell, now ... allows me to continue with my writing: Thank you for it's return. It's these little nameless, unremembered acts of kindness that help us all!" The closed caption says "... with my writing thank you for it's all good every single one of these panels is written wrong"
Last DOSember, we played a bit of Mario's Time Machine (1993) and only managed to return a couple of artifacts. We saved at that point and only returned to this save game tonight ๐น We chipped away at it some more and now have put it away for next year! (Also, they really needed to proofread!)
Screen capture from extrametrica's stream of her playthrough of Math Rescue Plus (1992). The math word problem says: Jodi's cat, Max, takes 6 naps before breakfast and 6 naps after breakfast. How many naps does he take? The closed caption states" All of them". There are a set of digits from 0 to 9 across the game screen, and a girl character below positioning to jump into individual digits. The stream overlay on the right hand side has the game title, the game cover for Math Rescue and a pixelated cat inside a DOSEMBER frame.
For our inaugural DOSember 2025 stream, we played Math Rescue Plus (1992), a mathematics educational platforming game for elementary students to practice arithmetic operations and intepreting word problems. It's good for a variety of drills and just crazy enough to keep your interest for a while!
Such an honour to receive your peeps on this DOSember evening ๐บ Thanks!
Promotional image announcing in the Final Fantasy font, "extrametrica's Final Fantasy 5th recital thing for 2025," on December 21 at 1 PM EST at twitch.tv/extrametrica . The background is white with an image of a cat named Captain cosplaying as a chocobo, in a purple gradient style like Final Fantasy.
The embargo is over-it's the 5th annual recital concert thingy on December 21, 1 PM EST as my thank you for your support throughout the year! You are invited to attend an afternoon with an amateur violinist playing Final Fantasy covers from the NES/SNES era, and maybe say hello to Captain. ๐บ

I am too excited to present my month of #DOSember 2025 schedule, cryptically described as usual! Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7:30 PM EST will feature DOS retro educational games while Sunday December 21 at 1 PM EST will be something different apart from gaming... ร suivre!
I am indeed one of those people who have multiple alarms in the morning on workdays ๐น
(Deleted previous post, tagged the wrong person) Last night while playing Clue (1996), the game crashed just before the final accusation phase and I had to start over but I forgot to save ๐. So this is just a reminder to always listen to @highbury.bsky.social and Save Often(TM). ๐โญ
It's one month out from my fifth annual recial thingy - December 21, 2025 at 1 PM EDT - and the theme will hopefully be a pleasant surprise for fellow retro video game enthusiasts. Will be announcing it by December (when preparations are done). ร suivre! ๐
5 months after the jam that brought SCOPECREEP to life, I'm proud to say the Steam Page as now launched! If you like incremental games, make sure to wishlist it!
