Ive been there honestly; I've done work for free, and it then went unused, and it does hurt sometimes, but if it's made clear it's just the voice not fitting rather than being bad, I think it's the fairest it can be. Its why "cutting room floors" exist in projects.

I agree with some of what you're saying honestly. I like to think we get what we pay for when it comes to any work. If it's free, we should be grateful we get anything.
