Still waiting for my first #rose to bloom but the Tea rose Archiduc Joseph (Nabonnand, 1892) is looking a good candidate. Such a pretty bush, with fragrant pink to peach petals on dark red stems. Repeat flowering it is often the last rose still blooming as the frosts arrive. ๐น๐ฑ #Roses

Sunset sky. Feeling colder than last night but the forecast says its not. Hope they are right
nice! ๐
good memories. They are such a lovely tree
Horse Chestnut candelabras looking magnificent. Seem early this year but probably because I associate them with the close-up view from the top of the Ferris Wheel at the May Day Fair of my childhood. Candyfloss, the coconut shy, bumper cars & horse chestnut flowers. Happy days!
James Grieve apple blossom. A sweet & juicy dual-purpose variety which keeps its shape when cooked. Named after Edinburgh horticulturalist James Grieve whose family nursery was known for hybridising fruit, violas & carnations. Introduced 1893. ๐ ๐ฑ
Sun setting beneath the breaking cloud & behind the pink blossom of the Bloody Ploughman apple tree.
wonderful โจ๏ธ
The fabulous eye-catching Narcissus 'Firebrand'. Hybridised by the Rev George Herbert Engleheart & introduced in 1897. I have three bulbs of this beauty but very much hope that they multiply. N. 'Lady Margaret Boscowan' (Engleheart, 1898) in the background. ๐ฑ
I feel your pain. I love walnuts & don't have a tree but 1 would do. I must have 20 hazel trees too.
Sun setting on a clear cool evening. The leaves of the walnut tree in the foreground are just unfurling reminding me to get on & pot up the 8 baby walnut trees a squirrel has busily planted in the garden. I want to plant them out somewhere more appropriate.
A field of mustard yellow rape with tractor wheelings under blue sky & fluffy clouds
Oil seed rape in full flower under fair weather clouds. So good to see the swallows & house martins back in the village.
Sisiphys! sisiphys! Blue tits are calling from the apple tree where blossom buds are waiting to open. Spectacle-faced goldcrests flit along the branches in search of food; their white eye patches look like they are wearing goggles. Meanwhile new aubretia plants are looking lovely ๐ฑ

peacock in full display mode
It may be overcast but I am not short of a little sparkle.
The imperial majesty of tulip 'Orange Emperor'. Planted with Black Parrot (which hasn't flowered yet) they bring warmth & cheer & complement the honey-coloured ironstone of the house walls. Blooming next to apricot coloured daffodil 'Kedron'. โ๏ธ ๐ฑ
very good ๐๐๐๐๐
After the rain... Sun setting over the River Welland with newly born lambs.
so much nicer than listening to the rest of what they have to say! ๐น๐น๐น
For #RoseWednesday ๐น the first of my roses to flower last year, the Damask 'Rose de Rescht'. An old variety native to Persia, collected by plant hunter Nancy Lindsay from the mountains of Gilan Province, Iran & introduced to the UK in 1945. Will it be the first bloom this year? ๐ฑ #Roses
very interesting, thanks
Thanks, it's lovely. ๐
a treasure โจ๏ธ
I can't quite imagine. They are so extraordinary
Working well too ๐ถ
Anyone who knows me knows that I love a mechanical clock. You can't beat the rhythmic ticking, which is very soothing. So I was delighted to snaffle this gorgeous vintage Comitti wall clock at auction for a massive bargain. โจ๏ธ
The garden is lit by Persian buttercups (Ranunculus asiaticus). Next year I must get my act together to order some claws in the autumn as I fancy dusky pinks & cream coloured ones too.
they are amazing
so true
