Sinners secured 16 Oscar nominations and took 4 wins. It deserved every single one.
What an interesting category
Soooo about those Oscars tomorrow 👀
I swear they make days for anything and everything. I read up on it and still don’t quite understand why we are celebrating Pi.
I’ve seen alot of young Keanu lately. I’m not mad at it #FThisMovieFest
A mix of old and new re-watches, I went back in time 🍿 #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
Nice vantage point
No matter how much media landscape evolves, there is no substitute for independent film and storytelling.
There are use cases for AI in quick-turnaround projects, or even low budget productions where AI can be useful. It can generate ideas and visuals quickly, without replacing the human touch.
I use AI as a productivity tool, and just like imitation crab, it has its place.
You wouldn’t serve imitation crab at a fine dining table, so it is fair to assess that AI films don’t belong in traditional spaces like movie theaters.
AI can imitate art and human experience, but it will never quite capture the nuance humans bring to storytelling.
My AI film philosophy:
Why settle for imitation crab when you can have the real thing?
So much of what makes a story evocative comes from humans taking their lived experiences and interpreting them through intention and creative agency. This is how art transcends time.
If performance is the emotional core of cinema, can an AI generated film ever truly replace a human actor’s performance?
Or will it always be imitation rather than art?
Statement from Modern Uprising Studios president and studio head Joel Roodman.
Would you watch a film made entirely using AI? Would you pay to experience it in theaters?
There was an AI film scheduled for release in 2026 at AMC Cinemas. AMC decided not to screen it. #filmsky #aifilm #futureofcinema
I sure did. Writing my first script and it’s been a lot of stop and go.
I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. And this is coming from someone who’s watched the entire franchise
