This is one of the great protest songs all wrapped up in Dr Robert's heady mix of jazz, funk and soul. Someone once described The Blow Monkeys as jazz-punk and I like that. 14, yes 14 albums not including Robert's solo stuff and collaborations. One of our unsung greats. @theblowmonkeys.bsky.social

I love this song & the album it was taken from, Animal Magic.

What I really like about the Blow Monkeys is the way that they fully embrace shiny pop music but the lyrics are often surprisingly radical!

My longstanding love affair with @theblowmonkeys.bsky.social started here, about 40 years ago. Only just re-got this on vinyl, so had forgotten what a brilliant album it is. Post-punky, jazzy, dark and sophisticated; brilliant songwriting and musically v sophisticated. Great stuff 👌

I finally got around to listening to @theblowmonkeys.bsky.social new album Birdsong. Full of all those fabulously familiar funk riffs, bass lines and beauty. My current favourite is when Dr Robert goes all introspective on Giving Up The Ghost. Man oh man this is beautiful.
